No FP, scotch tape over headstamp only.
Did the bolt close freely with the taped casehead?
Sigsavage....you should list an approximate location and I'm sure someone on here would be more than happy to help you better in person. Eliminates a lot of confusion and if your a visual type, would be a valuable asset...just my 2
If you can close the bolt (in full battery-handle down),then add another layer of tape. We want to make sure you did not push the shoulder too far.No change. Still have to push it down.

OK, Those cases you just sized were bumped a tad too much but very close to where you want to be. You now have a pretty good idea on how to adjust the die. When you get the H/S gauge record the numbers and double check bump each time you load a batch...and measure a couple-not just one, because they will begin to vary with multiple firings.
Typically the scotch tape measures 0.002-0.003". So if you just took a fired case -with one layer of tape, previously NOT sized, and ran it through your press with the die"backed out a smudge" from previous setting and got slight resistance in the last half of bolt closure ......then you are good to go. Lock the die with the locknut and double check.
Great job mr smith. That was some good help right there. Thanks for all you do
