USPS Rate Changes

Just so no one strokes out at the Post Office, New Rates went into effect today. The small flat rate box that I used to ship processing online that cost me $5.25 in now just short of $7. Goodbye to the "regional" boxes that were available to commercial users. Cost of ordering online just increased.

North of me is making news today on gas prices, apparently a gas war with gas dropping to 47 cents a gallon!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking the lines are long.

Exactly...when gas prices went up, man everybody was increasin price of everything. And now that gas has dropped to a record low here, no one's acting very quick to lower prices of goods..

I just found out today everything went up. Mailed a 6 digit 700 BDL action from here in northwest SD to Portland, OR in a medium flat rate box with $700 insurance. $24.20 total. The insurance is what erks me. You pay for a premium service than another $10.75 to cover your loss if 'they'(USPS) have an employee steal it, lose it or damage it!! Only the shipping business do you sell the customer a service, more for better service and then make the customer pay some more in case you don't deliver on the service you just sold them. What a racket!

The price increase is due to the federal govt who takes a mere 5 biilion a year from the post office for whatever reason. Gas may be down but other costs on every single thing we buy or sell has been going up steadily by the day. At walmart they watch commodities and when they go up the prices go up sometimes 2 times a day so you can walk in and pay 2.50 for oatmeal and by the end of the day it will cost 2.88 per unit. The postal service goes through the same stuff with costs going up daily on paper products etc.

Sell locally maybe not as fast but much easier. Even that is becoming a hassle we must sell through an FFL now. What gets me why such a drastic drop in gas when a year ago it was almost $4.00 a gallon. Who's screwing who. Country is going to hell get out and vote hope it's not too late

Gas prices are dropping for the same reason they went up, speculators. It works in all commodities. If investors think the price is going to rise, they buy; driving up the price. Just a cycle. Same thing when it comes down. It they think the price is going to tank, they sell; driving prices lower. It was never really about the cost of oil, just the price at the pump.

The ONLY time I ever had a situation where USPS destroyed a package I shipped was when I used Parcel Post and no insurance. Guy at the PO had the nerve to say "If you don't use Priority and you don't insure then we don't take care of your package."
The other thing is Priority now has $50 insurance included but if you need more you have to pay for $100 minimum and get no credit for the $50 "free insurance".
Last week I took a smaller box with 400 bullets in my packaging to the PO. Clerk rang up $36 shipping and insurance. I looked at the Medium FR box, told her forget it and went home to repackage. When I returned to the PO with a Medium FR box that had my box inside it the cost (including same amt of insurance) was right at $16.

Don't kid your self on gas prices. Wait till after the presidential election.
If the Democrats get in, all of a sudden, gas/oil prices will rise to levels that you have never seen or believed they will reach.
Maybe then all of you will realize, "Deals with the oil companies have been made".

Then once again the people will be told the same old storey’s, it's exploration costs, people are driving more, mistake was made about reserves, it's those darn overseas people causing it! On and on, and on, one excuse/lie after the other. They couldn't tell the truth about anything!!!!!

Make up your mind to get out and vote, Republican all the way in the USA!

What insurance or warranty does your cell phone have? None unless you buy the warranty. I understand, but the different shipping services do this and I really don't like it. I mailed an item to Australia. It set in Chicago for 6 weeks in customs. USPS said it was out of their hands. I sent another order to my customer as he needed parts. The second shipment made it in 6 days. The next shipment arrived 3 days later. It cost me $200.
Our Gov. at work. Lately I'm disgusted with the Republicans also. Term limits!

All carrier service have the ILLEGAL age old "protection racket".They
charge you a fee to deliver your package, then sell you insurance to
cover themselves when their employee steals,looses or damages your merchandise.
All crime families in this country at one time or another ran protection rackets
geared toward persons or property, charging a fee to guarantee that all
remained safe. Its no different that what goes on today, but for some reason
its now LEGAL. Maybe because the PO is involved????? LDS

Since some of you were rude enough to bring politics into a non-political discussion, I'll say that if Trump is the Republican nominee, not only will I do everything I can to defeat him, but we will have a Democratic president again.

Jammer that sounds like the thing to do. That way you can be first in line to
turn in your guns, if you have any, oh ya might as well give them your computer, because this
board or any gun board wont be in existence, because our freedom of speech will be denied.
