So, is there a way to get a complete bedded pillar mount job done on a new f-class stock, that fits a common reciever like BAT et al perfectly - from the stock maker - without an additional trip to a smith? Do they need the customers actual receiver, or do they have mock ups?

Since I don't have a smith handy, I'm looking for a drop in - turn key f class stock for my BAT action. And I need it pronto....like 3 months.

Hmmm. It can be done with V blocks on round receivers. Most of the professionals tell me that even a V-block can be improved with a skim bedding. I don't know, my V-blocked Barnards shoot better than I can.

Beyond that, the best thing to do is a full bedding with your receiver. It will always fit better that way. Do some looking around, I bet there is a good stock man that can get a bedding job done for you quickly. If you ask here, I'd bet that you could get some truly excellent recommendations.

Isn`t that the whole point of getting your action bedded, so that it is a perfect match to the stock............

Do the job yourself. It's not that hard. It's a straight forward procedure, requiring some basic mechanical skills. If you reload, you possess those skills. The hardest part is doing it the first time , simply because it's "unknown territory" in your experience. Watch a few videos, prep carefully and have at it. Keep in mind that the "nightmare scenario " of glueing your action permanently into your stock can be undone with a little heat. Just a thought, Josh.

The manners Fclass stock is very nice if you have the time to wait a year or more.

Send your barreled action in to where ever the stock is being made, and have them bed it for you. Then they ship the completed rifle back to you, no need for a ffl dealer.
