With a stroke of the pen, all new semi-auto handguns not already on the California approved handgun roster, must have micro-stamping technology, effective immediately.  Existing guns on the list are exempt.  Bottom line:  If Glock, HK, Sig, etc., want to sell a new pistol, not currently on the CA approved roster, the pistol must have micro-stamping.  Don't expect any new pistols to be showing up on that roster for quite a while.  
I just wonder when CA will require that technology on semi-auto rifles, or ALL guns, including revolvers and rifles. The actual Department of Justice bulletin is below.
