panda action

Some very early Stolle actions used a recess like a Remington, but that would have been in the early 80's, I believe. Since then, I tink all Pandas have been coned. The first two gigits of the serial number are the year of mfg.--Mike Ezell

Its a PPC bolt face. I have the action on reserve. I forgot to inquire as to configuration. Not a real problem. I'll just learn something new. I've never done a barrel installation with a coned bolt.

For my F Class Panda, I use three calibers and bolts. Square and coned depending on on caliber. My 223 and 308 are coned, 7 SAUM square.

The earliest Stolle actions had a recessed bolt because they used Remington bolts. Ralph hadn't begun to make his own bolts. My prototype Grizzly had a 722 Remington bolt in it. When Ralph started to make his own bolts they were neither coned or recessed, they were flat faced. They were a pain in the a$$ with regards to feeding the ammo. You had to develop the technique of starting the bullet into the chamber. He started to used coned bolts around the same time that Kelblys began to manufacture them, about 1980.
