88 grain Berger ?

Anyone using the 88 grain Berger match high BC flat base in there 6BR? Doesn't seem to be much talk about them.

Going out on a limb here but, I'm gonna have to say price, and b.c. are determining factors. It is a varmint bullet and the 87 gr V-max has it beat on price and b.c. Just speculation on my behalf though!

I shot quite few of them in my BR-DX and they shot absolutly great. Awesome bullet for 300 and closer....

The 88 gr are great bullets. The 600 yds IBC light gun record in 2005 was shot with them, in a 6mm BRDX.

Berger's quick reference sheet recommends a 1:10 twist or faster to shoot those bullets. Should be fine!

Careful with the "or faster" part.

They blew up at 3400 fps out of an 8 twist Krieger bbl IME. Bummer, as I wanted to use them at 500+ yards on PD's

I just shot a bunch of these in a 1-10 krieger, good accuracy window between 30 and 31g of varget in my rifle. Really impressed with these bullets, I usually use bergers but have never shot any that have grouped as consistently as the box I of 88's I shot yesterday...

I've used them in a 6br 1-8tw...they are a typical berger bullet accurate and very consistent. I haven't kept my load data for them unfortunately, while very accurate I found them a little hard for the rabbits I was shooting. I think they are a little finicky to keep in tune and if I was starting over again I would probably just use the 80grn FB, it has a better rep for accuracy and ease of tune.
The 88s are also quite long and in my chamber the base was seating into the neck - shoulder junction which caused no end of headaches until I clicked.

Thanks again, I guess the 88's are like most bullets, you just have to try them and see if your gun likes them.

I have been thinking about these bullets myself for next years tac driver match. I’ll have to decide what chambering I’ll go with and I’ll have all next spring and summer to test them.

Years ago I used them in a pair of straight 6BRs shooting 500 yard matches. I won more than my share with them.

they are accurate but if the barrel gets hot and dirty or has some milage on it they will not reach the target every time, even at 3000fps.

I use them in 6-284s 12 twist. Over 3800 and never had a problem. Very accurate.

Berger 88s and 80s both are stellar out of an 8 twist with the 6br and derivatives.

I bought a 10 twist Krieger now I gotta decide what chamber. standard BR or a BRA to fire them from Im kinda leaning towards a standard 6BR with Lapua brass

I have a 6br built on a Sako action. 10 twist. The 88's work good for me with N-135 and N-140

You hit it right on the spot. Jim Borden built me a 6BR, I tried the 105 Hybrids. Wasn't overly impressed, so I tried the Berger 87's, same thing. Tried the Berger 88's and man I gotta tell ya, that is all I shoot now. Fast and damn accurate.......
