WELCOME ABOARD JOE CHAMBERS!

I think it's great to have a pistol man on site. My old shooting partner and I still have all our bull's eye pistols from the early days, .22, center fire, and .45 all built buy Jim Clark senior when he was in Shreveport before he went to Keithville LA. John Johnson was my mentor and Loyd Bray was my coach, we worked awful hard to break 2600 in those days. It is nice to see the progress that Joe and others like him have made in the sport. I hope that his talents can be applied to long range and that he gets the bug for 600&1000 yd. bench rest. Good luck Joe! JF

I agree that it's good to have a top pistolsmith among our members. Joe builds very, very accurate pistols. You can learn more about Joe (and see some of his handgun creations) on the Daily Bulletin:

Here is a Chambers-built match 1911. Note the 50-yard, 10-shot group size:

Howdy guys! Yep, it is me, Joe C. Thanks for the warm welcome and kind article in the Daily Bulletin section. That was totally unexpected!

Shooting rifles has always been a passion of mine even though I build pistols for a living. This year it finally seemed like the timing and everything was right to take the opportunity to pursue that passion doing something that seemed interesting to me, F Class. Shooting long range has always been fascinating and it has come in handy in the field more than once but it is not something I've ever done on an official range.

As many of you probably know, we don't have many "woods" here like back home in the south and shooting deer at 300+ yards is not uncommon. Not to mention the pack of coyotes I've been working on around the house and the pdogs that need to be worked on north of here!

So thank you for all the help you have already given me through this forum! It is great to be a part of someplace where you can learn, share and celebrate with others. And if you guys ever have any questions about 1911's, which are my specialty, don't hesitate to send me an e-mail and I'll do my best to help you out. I like them reliable, accurate and beautiful (just like many of your rifles that have caused drool to mysteriously appear on the keyboard here at the shop). If they are not all three they don't leave here.

I'll leave you with a picture of a gun I re-built for a shooter just after I opened up my own shop in 2010. It was a SS springfield that had been accurailed by Doug Jones. The group on the bottom measures .896" for 10 shots at 50 yards with ASYM 185g JHP match ammo out of my ransom rest. The top group being measured was 1.065". While I have built some accurate 1911's over the past few years, this was the most accurate .45acp that I've done. The owner went on to win the senior division at the fall regional BE match in Phoenix in 2010 just weeks after getting the gun back from here at the shop.

Guys we have to be careful here, if Joe figures out how to apply his skills to building rifles, he will be hard to beat. The bulletin was a joy to see and Joe has already put up some good posts. Glad to have him here to add to the list of elite skills.

I saw and advertisement while watching the race yesterday that said "No such thing as TMI in NASCAR racing". Same appllies here in the shooting world. Somebody will find a use for all the info posted on the site. The more info the better. We the enduser can determine what we want to use.

Glad to have you Joe.

By the way,,, your pistols aren't real expensive are they?? ;D

HAHAHA! You guys crack me up! You have nothing to worry about regarding me building rifles. I'm the kind of guy that believes in specialties and letting specialists do what they do, thus my conversations with Randy G. this weekend and Carl B. today... Just pay the specialist to do it right the first time so you can enjoy the fruits of their labor!

And Barry, well, it just all depends upon what your definition of "expensive" is based. Some folks think my work is a bit expensive, but others (mostly those that have them) think I'm too cheap or just right. I try to keep it in the middle and serve as many good people as possible. I'm finding it is the same way in this competition rifle thing...there are people that look at a SEB rest for $1K and go, "HOLY SMOKES THATS EXPENSIVE". And there are guys that look at a SEB rest and go, "Ya, it's $1K...but it's one of the best and I want the best". Me, I look at the SEB and go, "HOLY CRAP THAT'S EXPENSIVE...but man what a nice piece of hardware...would be nice to have something like that someday!" ;)
