Using cameras to record am F-class shoot for personal improvement

Hi,

Reaching out to see if anyone has any experiences with using cameras to record their shoot.
I'm after something that will show me shooting as well as flags.
I want to use it to review my technique and also the flags at the time.
If I had to make a choice I would want something good to video the flags and maybe just use my phone to record me. From time to time I have had people use my phone to video me.
Would a go pro on a mount behind me do the trick...I have no experience with go pros.

Thanks

I bought a thingie from amazon that holds your phone and has an attachment to secure the phone to a tripod. wound up just getting someone else to record me. it will reveal your shortcomings for sure. good luck sir.

I want something that looks through my scope and records my hold and the spotter when the target comes back.
Seeing only spotter placement would only be worth while if it showed the flag or mirage and I held dead center. That would show effect of conditions.

That would show the flags and mirage - if you're lucky enough to be able to get both the flag line and the mirage in the same field of view at the same time (uncommon, in LR F-class). Still doesn't help with showing where the shooter was holding for a given set of conditions, though.

Gonna need either some sort of cell phone / camera to rifle scope adapter/mount (probably not legal in matches) or a plot sheet (old school, but legal for competition). There are a few such adapters on the market... but it sounds like they tend to eat up eye relief.

Two cams. one on you, and one pointed downrange. Having someone watch this and later be able to edit is really helpful.

I'm sure there are video/photo clubs that someone might want to do this for at most a minimal price. And, with that resource, they should also be able to edit.

As to the legality of it in competition, I don't see a problem as long as you are not using video to scan conditions while currently shooting in that match. However, different places may have different rules. Check with the match director(s) of matches you plan to shoot.

A GoPro set up correctly would work very well. Would likely need 2. One for you and one for the flags. You might get the first one or two, if you set it up just right.
