RIP Fred Sinclair

I saw just a minute ago on Benchrest Central that Fred Sinclair had passed yesterday. Fred was a true gentleman and gave back to this sport much more than he took. It is a shame that the lads coming along now never got to know him and what inovations he gave us all over the years.

Our thoughts and Prayers are with his Family. RIP Fred.

I was thinking about Fred at the Shot Show this year when I saw his son in law. Humble guy Great guy One of the pioneers. I used to get a random email when Fred was looking for something old school. Not sure what that says about me but he will be missed.

Fred Sinclair was my first contact when I got into br shooting, he sent me to Kelblys because I lived closer to them.. RIP Fred Sinclair. One of the good guys in br.

"We are diminished"

Pretty much says it all. Did not know him but bought a lot of items from him before Sinclair became part of Brownells. He brought many useful items to market.

Some people make their world a better place for all who follow.
Prayers for his family and friends. Respect and appreciation for all the ways we have received the gift of his ideas and innovation.

hey, Bill
I have Harry Frady’s XP100 in 308x1.5 that he got from Fred. It was Fred’s personal gun, and Harry was kind enough to gift it to me. It’s exactly as it was when he built it, and will stay that way

Fred helped me get into the benchrest game. An innovator, mentor, and great benchrest shooter. We are diminished. My best to all his family.

All. -

“ Uncle Dudley “ ( as Fred oft called himself ) was a muzzle loader shooter in competitions like Friendship IN, before gravitating to benchrest in a big way.

Worked out of his garage shop for a while, then out of a building in downtown New Haven IN, before moving into his facilities and warehouse
in “ Wayne Haven “ disputed zone between New Haven and Ft Wayne IN.

Fred did a variety of custom rifles for me, in particular top-tier groundhog rifle’s. Going afield w/ a Sinclair rifle gave me a tremendous amount of confidence when confronting the world class “ Soybeanus Digestus “ of NE Indiana.

Fred had a near cult following of area shooters, competing in monthly benchrest matches @ the Blue Creek range; just outside Willshire Oh
back in the late -70’s.

Great machinist and a great guy. Becky was a dead eye shooter, too!

Gonna miss him!
