Primer Deactivation

I have one unknown primer that I want to deactivate so I can dispose of it. Will charcoal lighter fluid do the job? Or will I have to use something else? Thank you.

Put a drop of gun oil on it then into trash.

Or, prime an empty case, insert into correct firearm, press muzzle of firearm into a wad of rags then pull trigger. No muffs needed.

Buy a watermelon. Using a small drill, drill a hole in it as deep as you can. Insert primer in hole, plug with silicone and dispose of in garbage.

I put the primer anvil down, hit the side the pin will hit, normal nail hammer, you will be surprised how little it take to pop it, no big deal, don't need to crack the floor. more than a tap but don't need to slam it.

CaptainMal, will a honeydew melon or a cantaloupe work, too? Watermelons are out of season here.

OK,OK. All jokes aside it is a silly question, but it would be nice to know to make sure it doesn't cause an explosion when it get's to the land fill.

Then I would have to clean my gun. I don't think it would be worth it for just one primer. Besides I found it by taking it out of a case that I picked up.

Take a coffee can with a wire lid, drop in a few primers and put it on the grill. Once they cook off dump then into the trash.

An interesting way of making them inert. I was hoping for a less noisy way of doing it.

Please refrain from wise cracks now. Only legitimate answers to original question or a better way of doing it please. Thank you.
