Prayers for the Blue

They are indeed. They are also not being used properly by state and local officials. The governor of Minnesota is a sad example of that. They are being confronted largely by ANTIFA. They have grown to large numbers and local and state governments are not confronting them with force. Hands off passive resistance will not work with these people.

I am a retired Police Sergeant, who spent 32 years in the Baltimore Police Department. During my time, I worked through three riots. When I watch today"s police being so constrained as to how they must react to the abuse rendered by the thugs, running rampant, with orders to stand down and give them space to exerciser their right of expression, I am driven to tears.

I see men and women striking police officers with no fear of retaliation. Looting and property destruction, while law enforcement is forced to watch and do nothing.

Sadly there is really no way to put a stop to all of this. Law enforcement is always outnumbered. When faced with an overwhelming force, they are always forced to retreat. The only way they could win a battle like this is the use of force. Once orders are given to stand you ground, and civilians are injured, Turn on this spigot and there will be serious consequences, resulting in severe injury to these thugs. This will intensify the will of the public, to take the next step. which will be guns on the street by the rioters. Police will certainly shoot back. If one police officer kills just one rioter during this so called "Civil Disturbance," all hell will break lose. It won't make any difference, if the officer is on the ground, being beaten by a mob, There will be little chance to turn back.

The person who devises a working plan to end these riots, will save the country from anarchy. This should have been ended on the first day, if handled properly. Treat felonious behavior for what it is. Law enforcement should do as the armed services do. When going into battle there is always a reactionary force, held in reserve. The first sign of destruction should be met with overwhelming force and immediate arrest made. Fire bombing stores and tossing bricks at police should be treated for what they are. Felonies.

Now the first rule of command is never give an order you can"t enforce. Enacting a curfew, knowing it can't be realistically enforced and won't be obeyed, was stupid. Once the public realizes, law enforcement can't or won't enforce it, it empowers them to start other unlawful actions.

I won't take much for the streets to turn into an actual battle ground. History shows, that riots end, only when the rioters lose interest.

I am sincerely sorry for such a long rant.

I feel very bad for the Officers in the streets during these riots. The organized Thugs know what they are doing because they showed up with a plan as any militant group would. This is awful to watch because people are loosing property they worked hard for. WTF

As I watch these riots, I always wonder why we don't simply use powerful water cannons to repel and "cool down" these mobs. ??

I'm not talking about the gentle cooling spray that would be welcome in a summertime demonstration, I'm talking about the spray that would scale a fish at fifty yards.

Seems like that would be a huge deterrent to violence, great crowd control and fire suppression to boot. jd

Nick I agree with everything you have said, no exceptions. the riots should be meet with deadly force if they become violent. However the officer that caused all of this was known by many other officers in his department and they did nothing to prevent this. Protecting the very bad in the department with total loyalty is what has caused the hatred of all officers, even the very best. Have you read what the police chief in Tennessee has said? I am in agreement with him. I am not saying I could do it I have a temper and could not keep a cool head in dealing with these kind of problems. The states attorneys office in Florida has a guide lines on prosecution, they will look for jail time until the 8th arrest. It is no wonder there is no fear of retaliation. The liberals, over capacity courts, and the lawyers abusing the courts to make windfall profits have made being a LEO an impossible job. The LEOs need our prayers now more than ever before.

In life most of what I have done was to arrive at a goal or a solution to a problem. Can some one please tell me what the goal of these rioters is? Was angered by what I saw done to that fellow over in the twin cities, so I can understand demonstrating against this type of behavior. Burning, stealing, and killing, does not seem like the way to change hearts and minds. Police fleeing a police station really saddens me. Wonder what the end game of this is. My prayers go out to those trying to police the situation and those needlessly damaged by it.

get politics out of it and let law enforcement do their jobs, they would end the riots quickly. The rioters use any excuse to rob, burn and cause detruction

The killing of that young man was abhorrent, and despicable behavior. The others officers had a duty to stop it immediately and failed their sworn duty to stop it. Yes this guy had a bad reputation and I would bet that almost all his arrests had a secondary charge of resisting arrest. He should have been weeded out a long time ago. You can be sure that those other officers will be prosecuted as well. I always schooled those working for me to watch out for their side partners and intervene when they witnessed an officer allowing his emotions overcome his good sense.

Nick I have seen first hand several times how our LEO are hamstrung .IT MAKES ME SICK !Some of the guys hang around while I'm doing a barrel or something to quiz me on shooting or gun stuff.Knowing what they have to deal with I do little odds and ends jobs for em free of charge.I fear the day will come when the citizens are forced to take back our society.Which reminds me ,I need to check on the shop it's in a bad part of town.

I live way outside of town, so good for that. It's a population of 130,000 +-
and they had a peaceful demonstration, then headed for the main police station
to rant. The police let them do their thing, but once the rocks and such started
to fly, they told them to go home, when they didn't they threw tear gas
and the dumb ass's got the message and left. Good for the police...

They should call the rioting, stealing, looting, etc. by what it really is and they should be prosecuted as such.. To me it’s called “Domestic Terrorism “.
I worked with PD and they always said I would not do your job,Fire Dept, but, I would have to be pretty hungry and would probably just starve instead of trying to do theirs. They are not allowed to do their jobs by the gutless SOB’s in power. The only way to stop a bully is go after him or her. There’s always bad apples in every facet of life and it’s hard to weed them out. Wonder if people would think if the people that have been beat by PD would have complied with what the officers told them to do then they wouldn’t have been in that situation. Prayers for this country and the men and women trying to protect it.

The arrest of the offending officer or officers should have
been the end of the story for the moment.
Free speech is a right given to everyone.
Burning/looting/police assault is a crime and should be
dealt with by whatever force necessary, including deadly force.
Litter the stores and streets w/dead bodies is the only way
to put a stop to this kind of behavior. Paid protestors/rioters
won't be so eager to be for hire if they know they could pay
w/their life.
When this situation bleeds over to other cities that have no direct connection to the victim, it smells of racial/political corruption to divide this country. LDS

Yes the Thin Blue Line, of honest and decent officers, have been put in the fore front by the actions of some bad acting officers and are paying the price all over the country.
And the Antifa and other criminals doing the damage to property and others has nothing to do with the death of the man by those four officers. It is just plain criminal activity using that as a front, and the news media keeps feeding them, by saying it is in protest over the man's death, instead of naming Antifa and others with them, as criminals and not protesters.

I also - and once again blame the TV news media, including FOX.

They took an admittedly horrible incident, and for three days ran it non-stop, almost as if to intentionally inflame and incite riot. Well, they were successful, and I hope they're happy. Just look at the exciting broadcasts they've created now. jd
