Two things that irk me. This forum is better than some others, but I still see it here now and then.
VARIABLE POWER SCOPES
Are designated Minimum magnification "-" Maximum magnification "x" Objective diameter.
Too often I see people saying they have a 3x9x40 or somesuch. Which just makes me cringe when I read it.
Minute of Angle, MOA
One "minute" is one sixtieth of one degree (one degree being one three-hundred-and-sixtieth of a full circle)
This approximates to a LENGTH of 1.05 inches at one hundred yards. Only.
People say "I shot 2 MOA at 300 yards (or worse, 300 meters)" when they mean two INCHES.
2 MOA at 300 yards is a length of 6.3 inches.
Precision shooters should be precise in their language, I feel.
And just as a fun fact, I believe one MOA is also one nautical mile at the equator.
I feel better now that's off my chest.
(Edited for mathmatical accuracy, thanks guys
