Some time back, when i was shooting competitively, a fella gave me some .45 ACP ammo. Just about every .45 ACP that i have shot this load in, it would just group so well. I have acquired another .45 pistolie.. what i want to know is, is there a mold or a maker of a similar bullet to this one. From what i do understand, this bullet was made from a special order mold. i will have to take one apart to find out how much powder is in it.
Weight of the bullet if i remember correctly is 185, but it could be 200, but i have a feeling it is a 185.

Any help would be great and appreciated.

Redding sells SAECO bullet moulds. There are likely supply houses that sell bullets if you don’t want to cast them. Hopefully members that can identify sources will reply soon...

Could be a conversion from HOLLOW POINT MOLD SERVICE. They can convert almost anyone's molds to a hollow point or a cup point depending on which mold pin insert you want. NOE is another company that offers their molds with a variety of end configurations.

The first company in the post is a company called Hollow Point Mold Service. They offer different styles of conversions depending on which mold you already have and how many cavities it is. The second NOE is a semi-custom mold manufacturer that has a huge variety of molds listed with many having interchangeable pin inserts to have flat point, cup point or hollow point bullets. As to when either of them started doing what they do, I couldn't say.

Looks like the 185 grain SWC we used for IPSC back in the day (1970's). Great bullet. Accurate. I see no need for a HP version.

you may not see "a need" for it.. but if it is working why change the formula?

You might get a better response at the bullseye- l forum. Very knowledgeable people on the bullseye sport.

Lots of good information there, another with even more info is LOS ANGELES SILHOUETTE CLUB web site. This place is a mind boggling treasure trove of cast bullet information, especially the stuff by Glen Frixel.
