Need Help on a Reamer Build

How much clearance should I allow between the case and the chamber wall at the base of the cartridge? I was going to allow .003 at the neck but didn't know how much at the cartridge base. My new unfired brass measures .4940.

Why stress thinking about it? Build a dummy round with the lightest bullet of your choice seated to the shoulder/neck junction. That way as the throat wears, you'll be able to go heavier and still reach the lands for a jam.
Nothing worse than shooting a "few" rounds and not be able to set the OAL at where you started. ???
Ship the dummy round off to whomever is going to cut your reamer and you're done.
Or, just tell them what you want. More than likely, they already know the specs you're thinking about. ;) That's their job. ;D

I'm in the same boat. Reamers use to take 3 weeks to turnaround. Sent my dummy round in 3rd week of May. Still waiting 3 missed promised delivery dates later.

Who is making it for you? Thanks

Talk to the guy making your reamer. He (they) only probably make about a million a year or so... :-) (ok, that's just a guess). I'm guessing they have probably already dealt with the question you have. Maybe a lot. They usually know what's working well and what's not.

Speaking for myself, I've never not had Dave Kiff at PTG make the time to go over my project, make suggestions (usually good ones), and generally know more than I do about how to spec out a good reamer.

As suggested talk with your reamer maker. Use his knowledge.
If you make the base of the case to small, sometimes a factory resizing die won't work.
