FORUM NOTICE How to Upload an Avatar (for GOLD Members)

These instructions are for GOLD members.
Only GOLD-status members can have Avatars.

HOW to CREATE an AVATAR

1. Save a digital photo. We recommend a photo 250x250 pixels in JPG (jpeg) format. The final Avatar will be a SQUARE so it's good to start with a square image (i.e. height and width is the same). The photo should be at least 200x200 pixels, and less than 50 kilobytes.



Important: the file size must be 50kb or less

2. Click on your Forum NAME in the upper right.



3. Click on "Avatar" from the Pull-down Menu, in the left column, a couple inches down.

4. When the dark gray box appears, Click the button for "Upload new custom avatar".



5. Click the gray "Choose File" button and select your square photo, under 50kb, from your computer hard drive. The photo should upload and appear in the Avatar boxes.



6. Click "Okay". That's it, you're done!

REMEMBER this is GOLD ONLY -- If you are not a GOLD Member you cannot have an Avatar. If you are currently a SILVER member and want to upgrade to GOLD, send a PM to Forum Boss. For a limited time we can do manual Silver-to-Gold upgrades for $30.00.

NOTE: If you want to change your Avatar, just repeat this process and upload a different photo. It will over-write the old Avatar. If you want, you can also delete your custom Avatar and just use the default gray target graphic.

Can you tell me why I'm getting a "double" avatar....one full size and one smaller one off to the lower right? Look at Posting Classified Ads under this forum.

It took this dinosaur 6 tries, but I got it! Of course, I did it last week, before these instructions were posted.

The issue for most people is that they don't know how to size a photo. You need to pay attention to two things:

1. The size of the image in pixels (we recommend 250x250)
2. The "as saved" size of the file (must be less than 50 kilobytes)

Your image editing program should give you both these items. Irfanview is a good program for Windows computers and iPhoto will do the trick on Mac or iPad.

Exactly my issue. I down sized my photo and it worked. Thanks again. Josh
