I call it the Exo. It's a prototype I designed around a few core concepts that stick out to me on a traditional configuration. Eliminating stresses, lowering recoil moment, and improved barrel cooling. I'm really happy with it so far.
I think that thing might need a full explanation in one of those featured gun articles on the main page

Hey guys, I just made this thread into a Bulletin story. Maybe more of your folks can post images of YOUR frankenguns, with details of the components and the builds.

I wouldn't mind seeing a target or two to show us how those Frankenguns can shoot...

You know, in a way, this Forum started with a Frankengun. I had a Savage Model 10FP in .260 Rem. Immediately got rid of the flexy factory stock and replaced it with a laminated stock. Then, after endless load development I decided the Savage factory barrel was hopeless, and replaced it with a Pac-Nor Prefit in 6mmBR. That barrel shot "lights out" from the get go. First measured group, rounds 15-18, went into a witnessed 0.168" for four shots (the trigger puller wouldn't take the 5th shot, LOL). That gun went on to tie a range record in 600-yd steel match at my club. The rifle was really the inspiration when I started this site as 6mmBR.com back in 2004 -- a decade and a half ago. Here she is, the original "Poor Man's Hammer", my beloved 6mmBR:

The Poor Man's Hammer was originally built for a tactical style match with some positional shooting. Hence the high comb and vertical pistol group. But it really shined when we shot the prone steel matches. And yes, the rifle did tie a club record with that cheap Midway front rest and a "hand-me-down" rear bag. (Now I use a SEB NEO and Edgewood). I built the rifle at a time between jobs when money was in very short supply.
