I'd love to have a ton of this stuff in my head to use when discussing points with non-believers.
Points should be short and to the point, so even a caveman can get it.
Information should be accurate, and interesting, and pertinent to the topic.

    I'll start with:
Every year, over 10,000 Americans are killed in alcohol related traffic accidents. (MADD)
Americans killed annually in mass shootings - generally less than 100. (Mother Jones)
-- AND OUR RIFLES AND MAGAZINES ARE A BIG PROBLEM!!??

Remember all the fanfare after the Parkland shooting. And it was a tragic loss of life.

Yet, 11 teenage students die in auto accidents every single day due to texting while driving.

Medical error kill 250,000 people every year. 3'rd leading cause of death.

And just another. Remember when Obama signed the 25 executive orders to reduce firearm deaths after Sandy Hook. One of the 25 was to have the CDC study gun violence.

Their findings, 300,000 times a year firearms are used to perpetrate a violent crime.

An estimated 500,000 to 3,000,000 times a year, firearms are used to prevent a crime.

Funny he never decided to share those findings.

AND -- the deterrent value of firearms for preventing crime of all types never seems to get any attention. The very existence of firearms or the possibility of their presence, keeps a lot of problems and mayhem from developing. jd

In the U.S., the annual number of alcohol-related deaths is more than twice the number of firearm-related deaths.

The annual number of tobacco-related deaths in the U.S. is more than ten times the number of firearm-related deaths.

Collectively, an estimated 12 times greater number of people are killed by alcohol and tobacco than by firearms every year in the U.S.

it would be good IF gun laws would really effect/stop criminals. Instead they only seem to "criminalize" those least likely to commit crime.

And it must be pointed out, that if a person or movement is simply intent on reducing the numbers of tragic and senseless deaths, that there are much bigger fish to fry than the misuse of firearms.

It is absolutely obvious to us gun owning constitutionalists that there is a much different motive to "common sense gun laws", than saving innocent lives. jd

It's perception. Imagine, At the local park a dozen men, women, children and a toddler are laying dead with there guts blown out vs in the whole country a dozen teenagers died in traffic accidents due to texting. National news IS NOT going to show 12 accidents (any channel) but all will show the mass shooting. Mass shootings are MASSIVELY SENSATIONAL!!! I don't have the answer.

I agree. But I say "screw the national news". They are never going to do differently than they do now.

However -- WE can promote the logic and truth that these mass shootings are essentially no different than airliner crashes, train wrecks, catastrophic fires and floods, tornados, ebola outbreaks, gas explosions, ship wrecks, suicide bombings, and violent crime on any given weekend in any major city. jd

Why don't they just change the color of all the BAD BLACK RIFLES to white, maybe they wouldn't look so menacing!
Who the hell would know how to reason with a Democrat, if you could there wouldn't be any Democrates!

Provisional data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Center for Health Statistics predicted that 68,500 Americans died of drug overdoses in 2018, compared to about 72,000 the year before. That translates to an approximately 5% reduction in overdose deaths nationwide

Opioids, as in years past, were the drugs most likely to be involved in fatal overdoses, but opioid deaths declined slightly, from about 49,000 in 2017 to a predicted 47,600 in 2018. (About 32,000 of the 2018 deaths involved potent synthetic opioids such as fentanyl,

3DC77EF7-2902-49E5-AA5A-1D2028818299.png This is an interesting chart. It’s from the year 2000 or 2001 but it puts things in perspective. One thing to note since 2000 drug abuse deaths have far exceeded gun deaths. It does crack me up when you see a 400 pound guy smoking with an open carry pistol for protection. Odds are not in his favor.

Your intentions are good and well thought out for sure but I think you fail to realize what kind of mindset you are dealing with.
These people DO NOT CARE whatsoever what you or anyone else says NOR DO THEY CARE about reason, rationality, logic or statistics.
THEY HAVE A SELF RIGHTEOUS AGENDA!! and NOTHING ELSE MATTERS!
I know it's hard to imagine that a human being could be of that kind of mindset.....but trust me....THEY ARE!
Nor do they care about TRUTH!
I've experienced it sadly first hand.
Hard to accept??? You bet. But to continue banging one's head against a stone wall is fruitless...and...they love to see you do it and frustrate yourself.
It's kind of like wrestling with a pig.....you get all dirty and muddy and they love it.
My respect to you sir though for your good intentions and hopes.

The BEST argument I've heard and seen is to ask an anti if they trust the government with people like Trump in the white house. When the say resoundingly "NO". Then ask them why they would only want the government to have ALL the guns???
Usually they seize up with a train wreck in their head.
