ELR Load Development

How do you do load development for ELR (shooting 2,000 yards +)

Please no speculation.

I'm looking for answers from people who actually shoot ELR.

Thanks!

The process is the same as for 1,000 yards and in. As for what that process is...there is no consensus. You will get almost as many answers as there are shooters.

Some start with the chrono, some start with close paper, some start with far paper. Some use some combination of the three in some order, while some do the chrono in conjunction with one or the other.

I develop loads at the distance they will be shot at....for me it is 1k or 600 for BR shooting. Now if you DON'T have a specific range in mind, and are going to be dialing all over the place ...from 100 to infinity (and beyond)....just pick a distance that is convenient to test...I use 600 yards. But....after you find your load, then range, BC, and environment are EVERYTHING for making first round hits. During my LRBR timeout I spent my time shooting dogs and Steel out to a mile. Very different shooting than BR.

What type of "ELR" are you going to be doing?

Good luck and have BIG fun,
Tod
