Dove on a supressor

5spd got me motivated to go sight in my Pulsar XP 38 Trail on my Ruger American in 5.56 today.
Went down to the folks land and put up the large piece of cardboard with a 2”x2” piece of aluminum foil @ 100 yds.
I shot the target and walked down to have a look. On the way down I noticed a lone dove on the wire I have on my dove field. I arrived at the target and observed the poi. On the way back I looked at my rifle hoping the wind had not blown it over and off the front rest and rear bag. I could see something flickering and said to myself what the heck is that. As my eyes got focused it was that dove had lit on my moderator and was fighting the wind to stay vertical. I laughed out loud and yep iPhone was in vehicle. I got about 25 yds away it took off.

We have deer and turkey running around at the gun range I use. We just make the firing line cold, and change targets if needed, or wait for 'em to wander off. Never have seen a crow tho at the range.

I had something like that happen once.

Was shooting steel out at our families place with cattle all over it. We managed to clear them out of the pasture we were shooting in, and went about our business.

30-45 minutes later we've shot the gong faces and need to repair them.

I hopped in the truck to go re-paint, and when I came back the ~1,700lb bull was sitting there scratching his nose on the suppressor..lightly at first, but then got a little excited...needless to say McMillan builds good stocks, and Vortex Razors hold zero. ;)

Edit: Matter of fact, that bull is an interesting one. We were fishing a ~200 yard x 500 yard stock tank out there, and instead of walking across a spillway to get to the other side of the tank, he swam it...the damn thing is 10-15ft deep.

That's what you Texans call a pond? :)

I had a brace beagle that ran a rabbit so slow that while I waited a sparrow landed on the bill of my ballcap. Guess I'd been there a long time! I had a backside view for a few moments then it hopped up to the end of my 870 that was barrel up, resting on my hip. And no, I didn't...
