can you use a ultra mag action on a magnum caliber or is the bolt face to big for magnum
The RUM, Winchester, Remington and Weatherby magnums all use the same boltface which I believe is .540. I could be wrong on the size but they do all use the same boltface.
I used the action originally chambered for 300 win mag to build my 338 edge, I hope to be putting a new barrel in original caliber on it next year.
The bolt face will be the same, but I believe the Rem 700's that come from the factory chambered in RUM cartridges have different feed rails, so if this is a Rem 700 that came from the factory for a RUM cartridge and you now want to switch it something magnum bolt face but not a RUM size case, it's possible it could give you feeding issues. I don't know if other manufacturers do that or not.
