SELLING Blueprint/Barrel Install

RaggedHoleBarrels

Site $$ Sponsor
Starting at $800. We begin the Blueprinting process with the action. The action tenon is opened up .010" and new threads are cut concentric to bore. The action's locking lugs and face are squared and trued to center of bore. The bolt's lugs both front and rear are squared and trued center to bore as well as the bolt nose and face. All work is dialed into .0001" and single point cut to less than .001" tolerances.
The above blueprinting is much more precise than simply running a tap through the existing threads... All metal warps during heat treat and running a tap through is only cleaning up the threads appearance - chasing threads with a tap will not make the threads concentric to bore. To ensure the threads are concentric to bore the action's tenon needs to be opened up at least .010" and new threads will need to be cut. Lapping the lugs and squaring the face is NOT blueprinting. We encourage you to ask the Smith what EXACTLY they are doing for "blueprinting" services. You might be surprised at what exactly they ARE NOT doing.

This blueprint package includes the Wilson non-fluted barrel; barrel install; and FREE shipping back in a hard case.

Options include: Straight flute($120)or Spiral flute($140) the barrel. Install a KDF Muzzle break($200) available in 3 types. We can spiral flute the bolt($100) We can skeletonize($50) and thread($100) the bolt handle. And we offer a variety of finishes.

We’re a fully equipped Gunsmithing Shop Located in Sparks NV.

I agree with the method that you posted, but would like to know if you ream the raceway first and what do you offer to address the bolt. Do you offer to bush the OD of the bolt body to fit the reamed raceway, bush the firing pin, and address bolt timing and extraction?
John, I haven't checked your website yet and it may all be there.

Good questions...
As far as bushing the bolt face, if the diameter of the firing pin hole exceeds the diameter of the firing pin by .005” we will bush the firing pin hole. When bushing a Rem 700 the process starts by drilling and tapping the bolt face for a plug screw and red Loctiting it in. We then face the bolt face in the lathe and drill a new .0625” (1/16”) firing pin hole and fit the firing pin to the new diameter. As stated on our website, we FULLY blueprint the action and bolt. All work is dialed in to less than .0001” and performed on a 13x40 Lagun American Turnmaster that is leveled with our .0005” Starrett Machinist level. All of our lathes are leveled monthly to confirm they are true. We encourage all shooters to ask the potential Smith EXACTLY what their process for Blueprinting is. Simply lapping the lugs, squaring the face and running a tap through the threads is NOT blueprinting.
As far as reaming the raceway, we don’t open the raceway unless the shooter has an oversized bolt (.703” or larger), most likely a PTG bolt. We can also cut a Sako style extractor, we can also time the bolt handle... For those of you who don’t know, we may be a small shop but we are a one stop shop. By the time you add the cost of a PTG bolt/opening the raceway and the extra features you requested, the shooter might be better off buying a custom action such as Defiance. We will be offering private labeled Defiance actions, starting at $825 shipped. The private labeled barreled actions with a Wilson barrel will start at $1250 shipped with a Wilson barrel - you pick chambering, contour and finish length. Please send an email to john@raggedholebarrels.net for more information. Thank you.
