Do certain mags work in certain BARS? I was told that I need to get a mag that was made for my year gun.

That is true. I have a NIB one here somewhere for a '06 but I'll have to put my hands on it to tell you what years it fits, etc. I ordered it for someone a few years ago and I ordered the wrong one..same reason. If you can pm me tomorrow, I'll see if I can figure out where I hid it.

I need one for a 7 mag. But I don’t know what year my gun was built. I tried looking it up and as close as I can tell it was made in 91

Browning could tell you based on the serial number. I have a couple older models around late 80s. They use a different mag than the newer lightweight BARs. Not sure about the dates tho.

Nearest I can tell the type 1 mags fit models built from 1967-1992. Type 2 are from 1993 to present. Can't say it's 100% accurate but it's just what I remember when I bought additional mags for my guns. They are type 1 mags for mine.
