Any one using the new 6.5 Lapua brass in their Creedmoors???

If any of you guys are using the new Lapua 6.5 Creedmoor brass how is it working out compared to the Hornady brass?? Also if you had a pet load how much did you have to reduce your pet load in the Lapua brass??? Thanks guys!!

IMG_3798.JPG The new Lapua Brass is great. 300 pieces produced a weight ES of less than 1gr. I weighted 160 pieces of Hornady brass with an ES of just under 11gr (this was two different lot#s). The Lapua necks are dead nuts .0145" thick all the way around using a tube micrometer. The Hornady necks were fairly inconsistent. I did turn hornady necks to make them consistant. Also, prior to Lapua producing 6.5CM, I converted 200 pieces of Lapua .308 to 6.5CM and had to neck turn those. In this process I found that the hornady brass would expand and become loose on the neck turn pilot. The Lapua brass remained tight and very consistent. The Lapua brass is much harder than Hornady. The Lapua flash holes and primer pockets are also far superior. Hornady does have one considerable advantage over Lapua and that is its price tag. I hope this helps.

I agree with Jason on all of his points except for price. Lapua does cost more but if they live up to their standards the price could be better due to how many times the cases can be reloaded.

Thanks for the info now how does it shoot?? How much did you have to adjust your pet load to shoot the same with the Lapua brass?? Thanks!!

I started using this brass in a new GA Precision rifle so I have no other load data to compare. It shot pretty good while fireforming at 600yrds at a Camp Butner match last weekend. I decided to shoot this rifle while waiting on my F-open rifle to be completed. I was very pleased with the results. My average velocity is 2810 and SD was 3.6 with 42.7gr of H4350 behind 140 hybrids and BR-4 primers. My Barrel is probably faster now as it's been broken in a little. Hope this helps.
