6ppc powders

need to order some powder for my new ppc bbl,, gonna start with barts 68 bt,,has lt32 taken over the top spot or should i still start with 133,,

thanx again eric

N133 is still the top dog, but LT32 is quite popular also. I don't think you would do any wrong by using either one. You can go to the IBS website and click onto the results for the group shoots and click on the match results and scroll all the way down to the equipment list and you can get a rough idea of who's using what. Some guy's use both.

I am going to ask you a question that may seem unrelated to your query. Where do you live? The reason that I ask is that I believe that 133 has a record of doing well in competition when the humidity is on the higher side, and that something like LT 32 might be better in an arid climate. If I remember correctly, I believe that Bart Sauter (owner of Bart's Bullets, and an excellent shooter) takes both to matches, because he may not be able to predict which will shoot the best in a given set of conditions. Another option that a couple of experienced shooters have told me shoots good is LT30. Flip a coin; you will probably end up trying them all before you get very far along. A tip on 133, shooters tell me ( and it has been my experience) that it likes a fair amount of neck tension, .0025 being a good minimum. On the other hand LT32 works with a thousandth less. The key to all of this is to have an organized load workup procedure, rather than asking around. Loading at the range, it should not take you more than a morning with a set of flags and easy wind to sort out a bullet powder combination, in quite a bit of detail.

Boyd's reply is very good as usual.

All I would add is that I would make it a point to evaluate the H322 also if you have some handy. My 12 twist and on a given day one of my 14's prefer it. ;) WD

People use all kinds of powder- 8208, 322extreme, 2015br, benchmark, etc- youll have extra of all of theseif you buy some. N133 and lt32 are all that win on a regular basis

I would buy 8 lbs of both to start. This is on the assumption you have another caliber that will use these powders, like a .223 or slow twist 6BR. The price of powder will only go up more, so what you buy today is at a discount over what you will buy if for a year from now.

I don't think LT has taken over. It is a very good powder for PPC tho.
N133 is hard for me to keep a handle on. I do better with LT it's easier for me anyway to stay on

I have three or four pounds of AA2015 2009 lot #1. 5 to 6 pounds of AA2015 2012 lot #4. 2 pounds LT32 lot #3
I would like to sell it. But have been unable to find any local buyers. I mean I would sell it CHEEP just to get rid of it as I do not shoot it anymore. It had shot very well in the PPC and 14 twist's 6BR's. I don't shoot short range anymore and do not have any cartridges to burn it in.

Same here, with 133 you always seem to be running right on the edge, and your click adjustments to maintain tune given the changing conditions better go the right way ....or you might as well relegate that match as a missed opportunity to be learned from.

oh my goodness,,I hadnt gotten any LT32 yet so started with 133,,started at 28 and went up .3 grs at a time with 3 shot groups and it kept getting tighter until the case was full,,I will get some pics latter but with Norma brass necks turned for a .2655 loaded neck dia and using a .264 bushing and 29.6 133 it plain shoots,,I cant wait to see how it will do at the next 100/200 yard UBR match at Gallatin,,

I am tickled to death with the bbl Tim and I really like the crown,,,

My guys that got me started on 6PPC told me I didn't know enough about keeping a PPC in tune to use N133, they pushed me toward H322. I have shot some small groups with it and some big ones. I would like to try some LT 32, but have a lot of H322 left so it will be a while.

Them telling you to use 322 was like putting up a limbo pole. Theres a reason everybody uses 133 and lt32 and nobody uses 322. Those were the wildest groups i shot my whole career when 133 wasnt widespread. 322 wont teach you much. When it goes out of tune you think something is broke. When 133 goes out you shoot a .200 if you let it go way too far
