284 Winchester load data?

Hammer47

I suffer fools poorly.
Looking for data especially with Re17 and the 168SMK. Anyone have data for precision shooting over long range? In my case it will be with a Krieger 9 twist 1.250 no taper 30 inch bbl.

Quickload shows...

MAX load...
52.7 gr RL-17
168 smk
3.000" coal
30"bbl, 2,996 fps
63,000psi.
93% case fill.

Sorry for the theoretical data. If I had real world data I'd give you that too.

Have worked with many 284 loads over the past 5 years. First started with 7828ssc and 180 Berger Hybrids, moved on the H4350 when later barrels did not seem to like 7828ssc. More recently plan on shooting 183 Sierras with around 51.0 gns of H4350. I hate trimming and pointing match loads with the Berger Hybrids. The Sierras have a much better and consistent point / meplat right out of the box.

Sorry never tried RL-17 in any of my straight 284s. When you say "precision shooting over long range", using a 30" long 1.25" straight barrel your not talking about a walk around gun;). If competition is your end goal, then the powders and bullets listed below seem to be the most popular.

Krieger 8.5 or 9tw, 30" to 32", 1.25" straight
Lapua 6.5 x 284 brass necked up to 7mm, turned necks, .002 neck tension range.
7828ssc, H4350 and H4831 all seem to work for most.
180 Berger hybrids or now the 183 Sierra bullets jumped 10 to 20 thou

Good read just posted today: http://bulletin.accurateshooter.com...rtridge-choices-for-mid-range-and-long-range/
