270 WSM and rl33

It may work, but you'd probably run out of room in that size case with RL33 before it would match the speed of RL26 or Viht N565.

I had read it on a different website I was just wondering if anybody else had ever tried it. I've been using reloader 19 and it works pretty good just my velocities not quite where I would like it but it's accurate

Has anyone ever tried reloader 33 in a 270wsm I've been thinking about trying it with 150 Berger's
I've reloaded for three 270wsm barrels. Reloder 26 is THE powder for 150gr bullets. I'm even using it for 140gr now.
Feel free to try rl33, let us know how it shoots. My guess is you might not get enough in to produce pressure unless your chamber is throated long...but you're sure to have one heck of a muzzle blast!

I don't think you'll find RL26 anywhere so check out N565.

What was your starting load for rl26 for the 270 WSM with a 150 gr. And what kind of velocities were you seeing out of them

Start at 64gr in .6gr increments stop when you reach desired accuracy. I really don't want to tell you my velocity but truly impressive.

I only use standard large rifle primers, 210m or br2. Never ever need magnum primers even in sub zero temps.

Thanks for the information I'll definitely be giving it a try how was the accuracy. I've tried several other different powders over the years never really achieved the velocity I wanted and the accuracy that I was desiring but I'll definitely give the rl26 try. Thanks

Way too slow for this case and bullet.

But if you stuff one of the Berger 170 gr. Elite Hunters in that case set to magazine length and you have a winner using a full case of Re-33.:D

RL 26 is even a touch slow. Same with Retumbo, can't get enough in there. IMR 7977 is just about right imo.

Re-25/26 are both perfect for this case and bullet combination. Retumbo is too slow and 7977 deprives you of 100 - 150 fps.:(

Since Re-26 is hard to find, try the Re-25 or Norma MRP or even H-1000. VVN-565 is right in that same category and should work great also. I haven't loaded any of it in this case yet.

Yes.
I want to try N565 but is tested as a exact match for RL26, and I have a good stash of RL26. Otherwise I'd be all over N565.

My 7977 speeds uncompressed matched my full case velocity with RL26 with 145 ELD and 150 VLD. Different chamber/ throats perhaps. I'll agree Retumbo is a waste of time in this case.

Smart man. I've had to up my level of quantity buying from 2 years ago because of the stupid marketing model in use today. It means I have to stockpile just to keep stock on hand when I need it. Re-26 is very usable in several cartridges I load for.

I'm working with N-565 for the database but to have an alternative if I run low on another powder. The cost is another drawback but left with no choices, what can we do?

Any of a number of variables including but not limited to lot# variance. But in the 3 lots of 8-lbs each I've purchased and used in at least 15 cartridges, the velocity difference is consistent. These have all been top performance loads not wiffle balls.

Enjoy the experience!:D
