260 Remington and RL26

I’m using it in 6.5cm. I started at 45gr with 140s. You could probably start at 46 in that bigger case with a lighter bullet.

Wait....

Where'd you find RL26???o_O

I get mine at Sportsman's Warehouse. It is a listed powder in Quick Load. It is made by Nitrocheme in Switzerland. I started trying some in a 260 R. RL26 is faster but is it accurate? H 4350 is rather standard for 260 R. It is slower, but it is accurate. I will give up speed for accuracy any time. Never came to any conclusions.

I have since re barreled the rifle to 6 mm BR. We shoot clay pigeons on the sand bank for sighters at 600 and 1000 yards. You have to be sighted back on the bank in less than 1.5 seconds at 1000 yards, and .75 seconds at 600 yards. to see bullet impact. So less recoil is important.

Sorry, i know the what and who.
Been hard to find lately.

Fast, indeed!
And accurate!
Gave up on RL25 (great velocities, but accuracy not up to par).

Go to powder for 7mm Rem Mag and 243 with 105gr match bullets.

I use it under 120 NBT in my NULA for 3000 fps and good accuracy. Haven't tried any other bullet in that particular rifle yet.

H4831sc/4350 both provide superior accuracy in the .260 Rem to most powders. I've heard RL26 has not been nearly as accurate even tho it's much faster. I heard the same with RL17 in the 284. Luckily both my 284s I currently shoot are very accurate with the RL17. I'd give the 26 a shot. You have nothing to lose.

I loaded the 147 ELDM in my .260 to test it a bit. I loaded it to 2825 using Re 26, with fantastic accuracy. I shot an antelope or two with it. I went back to the lighter bullet in my .260, because the 147 was highly compressed. I believe that it was 47 grain that I used. Just start about 46 grains for that load and work up. You may end up close to 50, if you are chasing velocity. Reloder 26 is very good in some applications.

I save the long bullets for my Creeds now, as they handle them better in a standard magazine.

Were you running them nude or plated? I just got some to play with in my .260. I plated 20 with HBN to start with but haven't loaded them yet. Was going to try them with 4831SC but also have Re 26, to name a few.

Thanks,

Hoot

No. I run all my bullets plain. Never messed with that coating stuff.
