22-250AI

Anyone try RL-17 in 22-250AI yet? Just got my 10#. Any info will be helpful. 13 twist no turn neck that only sees 55 gr noslers

Not sure how it will work with the 55 gr bullets. I have a 22-250AI with a 1:8 twist that I shot the 70-80 gr bullets that should work fine. Based on my performance with the 6BR I think it will work good with the heavies in the 22-250AI. tiny

I shoot 50's through several different 14twist 22-250AI barrels with RL15. They're all very accurate and fast. Best accuracy is from about 39gr to about 40gr. depending on powder lot and bullet, and which barrel. Never tried RL17 in anything but it may be good in this cartridge.

Mine likes the same stuff my 220 Swift likes: 50 - 55 gr bullets and IMR4064. It also likes IMR4895 but to a lesser degree. You can use 220 Swift loading data to get started.

tiny68,

How do those heavier bullets perform at long distance? I'm thinking about changing to a faster twist next time I re barrel.

I loaded some RL-17 with 55 and 69 gr Sierras today for my 22X47 Lapua. Case capacity for the 22X47 L is larger than the .22/250 Rem and a bit smaller than my .22/250 AI cases. It uses a small rifle primer, so load data may not be quite the same. I was unable to find any load data for RL-17 for the .22/250 Rem, so used H-4350 starting load data for my initial loads. I use 220 Swift data for my .22/250 AI's, but there is no Swift data for RL-17 so that is no help either. Keep us posted on your testing. Vic

Mine barrel is a PacNor SuperMatch 28' 1:8 twist with a 22-250AI Match chamber,SAMMI minimum). It shoots the 80 SMK and 75 AMax great. I can usually do sub-MOA at out to 300 yds. Ocassionally sub-MOA at 500 yds, but I suck at reading the wind and I struggle with it. Getting better. Last time I shot it I played with IMR4007SSC with the 69 SMK. Wow. Only shot 100 yds groups but I was getting 0.5 groups are better at 3600 fps!!! I little warm. Couple of stiff bolts.

Anyway, very pleased with it. I wish Lapua brass where available in the 22-250.

Luck, tiny
