MOST ACCURATE BULLET IN THE WORLD

Bill Norris

Back in the Day
O K, Maybe or maybe "NOT" but Hornady's website has a video making that statement anyway about their newest thing out called the A-tip. (A representing aluminum) Watching the videos you get the feeling those guys really feel they have hit the mother-load according to various shooters around the block that have tried the A-tip and proclaiming the "good news". I know this is supposed to be a long range bullet and was just wondering if anybody here has tried them at any distance in any caliber and if so how do they perform ?

I have worked up a load for 260 Rem using A-tip 135s and 44.3 gr H4831sc. I found an accuracy node at 100 yards. My plans for getting out to long distance are on hold...

Where exactly is Hornady claiming this is the most accurate bullet in the world?

Or are you putting words in their mouth and then arguing against them?

Hornady's website has a video making that statement. I'm not putting anything anywhere nor arguing at all.

I think we all agree that talk is cheap and A-tips aren't. They might be the most precisely made production bullets ever. Will we know the difference? Will it show up on target?

Myself, I've been interested to try a box or two just to see. But I'm kind of afraid they would be, and then be stuck paying 80 cents a bullet.

The 90gr .223 in particular has my attention.

I'm going to try some in my .243 AI (110 gr.) and see how they perform @ 100 yds. Hopefully I will feel good enough to want to try them further out. Considering all things being good with the triangle the target always tell the truth.

Every bullet maker says their's are the best. The only way to find out which is most accurate in your rifle, is to shoot them and find the one that is best for you.
Not by reading the marketing hype that each and everyone puts into their ads.

Agreed. all the ranting and raving from the manufacturer and/or other shooters in the field won't absolutely gaurantee the bullet will shoot in a different rifle better than whatever the next guy has worked up an accurate load with.

I have checked a few hundreds, OAL are writhing 1 thou and BTG well inside tenth. You might find 1 or 2 over box with BTG 1 thou out.
Perfect tips.
Only target will tell if internally they are as consistent as externally.

I know a couple excellent shooters back in Houston, who shoot F-Open who are experimenting with the A-Tips in .30 cal. They all state the B.C.s of the bullets are spot on, which is good. They are having a bit of a time getting them to shoot up to the standards they normally shoot in. However, they do state that they believe they will get them to work.. They are giving it their best because the B.C.s are not just ridiculously high>>>they are spot on! I will hear and SEE (I will eventually have to shoot against them) how they shoot once those boys "work the kinks out"!

I'm going to give them a shot in the 7 Sherman Short when it is built (190's). I added a bit of freebore over my reamer for 184 Bergers in .284.
