Zero freebore AR chamber

Looking at building an AR in 6.5x6.8. Pretty much a grendal with a little more zip. The barrel I'm looking at is chambered with zero freebore to allow getting to the lands at mag length. This will be a hunting rifle. Other than potentially having to seat deeper and losing case capacity is there an issue with this in a semi auto rifle? The field test results I've seen are very good.

I would think it's doable, but I've got to ask: AR15 platform? I would recommend a consideration in the new DPMS gii platform as I think 6.5 creedmoor or 260 would serve your purposes in an easier method.

Yes those rounds have much better ballistics. However the ar platform in those calibers can get heavy. I already have a 6.8 and a bunch of brass. The 6.8 is going to the grandson so I thought I would do a 6.5.

Seating into the lands could cause feeding issues in this semi-auto. Also if you need to remove a live round at the end of a hunt, it can cause the bullet to remain in the barrel and dump powder as the case is removed. Makes a heck of a mess and will not allow you to chamber any more rounds until all the powder is removed from the lugs. Why do you want to seat into the lands?

Let me clarify. I'm not going to load into the lands. The company that makes these barrels uses the no freebore chamber so you can get close to the lands at mag length. Most ar's at mag length your a loooong way off. Just wanted to see what others thought about this for a hunting rifle. Obviuosly you will need to know max length for each bullet to the lands as youu would with a bolt gun.
