It appears a scammer got the phone number of a member who wanted to buy a rifle. The scammer posed as the seller and sent a text asking for $2500 payment via ZELLE.

People -- LISTEN for Heaven's Sake!!!
Zelle may never EVER be used for any transaction on this Forum and it is 100% against Zelle rules to use it for firearms or ammo sales.

You have ZERO Buyer protection!!



Likewise you have ZERO buyer protection with Venmo, ApplePay, Google Cash, and PayPal Friends and Family (F&F).

BEWARE PHONE TEXTS --
Scammers can easily get your phone number from the web. NEVER make a payment in response to an unsolicited text. NEVER! (This victim used his real name as his Forum Name -- another NO-NO).

NEVER do ANY deal with out a VOICE Phone call. VOICE ... not text. TALK with a VOICE CALL.

Banks are being sued by Government because of Rampant Fraud with Zelle:

When I click on “New Post” icon to bring up the most recent topics the “Latest Profile Posts” are shown on the bottom of the page. A LOT of personal information like phone numbers, addresses and purchasing info including prices are contained on some profile posts. Maybe a word of caution is needed to send that information in a PM and not on a profile posts for everyone to see?

good info Boss. I was gonna sign up with Zelle after talking to manager at a local bank as a way to offer people to pay me quicker so i could ship quicker as i dont have PP anymore. I was only gonna accept payments and never pay for anything with it. i wont use it now here on AS.

Zelle is extremely dangerous. And here we have a situation where the proposed buyer listed his real name as his Forum name, along with his full address.

We are considering blocking all classifieds access by non-registered members.

As we have explained before... if you receive an unsolicited text seeking payment via Zelle or F&F or CashApp etc. you should assume it is a criminal request. After getting all the sender info you can, you should halt all communication and then send the information to Forum Boss.

But people for the 100th time -- LISTEN to me -- NEVER EVER send a PENNY without a Voice Call!!
