zeiss z1000,z800,z600 yard recticle

I have a 4.5-14x44 Rapid-Z 800 mounted on my 338RUM. Just started barrel break-in and load development so I have not tested the holdover accuracy yet. I am dissapointed with the thickness of the reticle, much heavier than the Z-Plex. I see issues with it obscuring the target at extended ranges.

thanks for the reply,i would like to here more about it,after you test it. what bullet and what kind of velocity will your cartridge be running ?

I bought the Z1000 for my 308Win. The calibration is pretty spot on. But as said before, the reticle is very think. It is similar to the Burris Ballistic ret.
I then got the Z-Varmint reticle. Very nice..thin, much like the Leupy Varminter reticle.
It needs a fast caliber, like 243 etc
Good scope

I've got a Zeiss Conquest 6.5-20x 50mm scope with the Rapid Z Varmint reticle. I just mounted it on my .204 Ruger last weekend and plan to take it to the range this weekend, although they are calling for rain). This reticle is plenty thin.

So far, I like it, but will know more after I actually shoot it.

Birddog

After spending a little time at the range, I have determined that the Rapid-Z 800 is too thick for target shooting past 200yds. I mounted a different conquest with the Z-plex reticle for my load development. The Rapid-z might be ok for shooting game, but not for precision target work.
