Zeiss Victory?

I'm shooting a 6 Dasher in F-Class. I'm looking for a scope- the scopes I've been considering are primarily:

Nightforce NXS
Leupold MK4
Sightron SIII

In various magnifications, but none less than 25x,Leupold). Recently, I ran across a Zeiss Victory Diavari in 6-24x56. It's basically NIB and the gentleman is willing to sell it to me for $1600. My budget is about $1500, so the NF would be a stretch for me, but I think I could do it if I sold off some older equipment first.

I've read through a lot of threads on this forum and I know that there is a lot of dissension on Nightforce and maybe lesser dissension on Leupold or Sightron, being lesser priced.

However, I have not seen a lot said about Zeiss scopes. The scope I'm looking at has a crosshair/dot reticle, target turrets, and I know the Victory series has seriously nice glass. The only thing I would have to get used to is the metric adjustments instead of 1/4 or 1/8 MOA, but I'm pretty adaptable.

Is there any reason why this would NOT be a good route to go? I have a few Zeiss Conquests for hunting and they are outstanding scopes, but this would be for an entirely different purpose. I'm a little torn on the magnification thing, but my current scope is a 16X so even a jump to 24X will seem like a luxury to me.

I have all three of the scopes you referenced. Can't comment on the Ziess. I have never and don't know anyone that has ever had a problem with a Nightforce scope. I feel that most problems, regarding Nightforce scopes, noted in these forums are user not equipment related. I have a fixed power MK4 that I feel is the best scope that I own. Don't like the MK4 variables- seen too many malfunction. I have a Sightron SIII that I think is the best dollar for dollar scope out there. Just my opinion.

If your budget is $1500, you could get a Nightforce BR series. I believe many F- Class shooters are using the BR series. But, you might not want the 1/8 MOA clicks vs. the 1/4 MOA that are on the 3 scopes that you are considering.

I have all those scopes. The Zeiss is worthy, and my favorite glass of those). I am considering shooting F-class, and one of my concerns is the big reach to the objective for parallax adj. I think I'll go with something with the side adj. I just shot a 1000yd match with a 20x Zeiss Conquest with no problem seeing sightors or centering on target. That being said, I'm probably going with a NF nxs on my f class. I like the thought of that rugged scope going to the ground. If you don't get that Zeiss, you may consider waiting to see what Sightron comes out with next in Oct. They are very good for the money.

The one problem with the Zeiss is the metric reticle adjustments when the F-Class target is in moa. This will add confusion in trying to covert centimeters to inches during the match when you need to concentrate on wind and shoot fast.

Steve that's a good point. Until now, I've just popped one in the gravel and dialed to it. I didn't think about clicking the scope between shots, figured the F-classers just used the Kentucky hold.

You are right; you can hold off on windage but the amount of maximum holdoff depends on the comfort of each individual but sometimes the wind change will be large enough that you need to click.
