Zeiss Conquest Hd5 5-25x50 Rapid-Z® 1000 on a .243?

I assume that you are referring to the reticle design--since the .243 shoots flatter generally than the .308/7.62, the distance marks on the reticle won't correspond exactly to the same distances. If you shoot heavy bullets in the .243 (say 95 grains and up), then its trajectory should be more similar to the design.

In reality, no standard design reticle is going to be spot on with the trajectory of any given rifle. You just have to shoot your loads at varying known distances and calculate the correct distances to match your reticle.

In other words, the Zeiss should work just fine on your .243, as long as you don't expect the distance marks to be exactly 100 yards, 200 yards, etc.

Regards,
Jim

My experience was not good. It had the clearest optics of anything I have ever looked thru. But my idea that I could use the main cross hair and dial it up or down like a normal scope, fell short when I discover it has very little elevation adjustment. You will need to figure out on your own what reticle line corresponds to the distance you are shooting and at what magnification you are set at.
Probably fine for some folks, too much screwing around me.

You need to lift and remove the elevation turret and remove the zero stop screw, you will then have 75 minutes of elevation adjustment. Read your owners manual, it is quite simple.
