Well its no secret that we have a strong working relationship, he's also my gunsmith. Last year I sent him 2 rifles to work on.
I was almost embarrassed to send him my Ruger American for a fresh barrel and new Boyd's Pro Varmint stock.
Following Zacks advice we ditched the barrel nut and went to a shouldered barrel 1n8 Hawk Hill.
Today I was blowing out 50 pieces of Norma brass on steel just plinking, and took another 19 rounds of match ammo I had left over from December's club shoot.

I also took my 6.5-284 built on a Remington LA, Brux barrel, Boyds thumb hole stock. I was doing a lil bit of load work with Norma brass that was very comparable to my lapua brass in weight and volume.20220302_120121.jpg
4 shots @300 yards RL22, WLRM 136 Scenar L Norma brass. This load is .1 less than my Lapua brass load everything else being the same.
Now that dog'll hunt!!

But that's not all...
I've been busting Zack's ball'z for a year that I can't get out of the .1's.
Well I guess I wasn't doing it right.
Same brass, powder, and bullet, but did a primer swap and ran another charge weight test.
Bam!! And just like that I shot my smallest group ever!!!
3 shots @ 100, I know what I'll be testing at 300 next range trip.

@WSMNUT thanks again brother for building 2 great shooter's out of a ratty ol Remington and a POS Ruger!!
I'd also like to thank @Hntndad Kevin for his pillar and bedding work, and my friend @sdeal5 for the Norma brass.
I'm so looking forward to getting mama's 6br finished, because if there's 1 thing I know....

Old Dominion Custom Rifles HAMMER!!
Fantastic shooting Bro. Nice to have rifles that shoot well. And Zack builds shooters no doubt.

Nice post and good shooting. I just sent my first project to Zack and it’s in shipping heading back my way, I’m excited, even more so watching this. I’ll be doing more Old Dominion Rifles, such a great guy to work with! He offered some great suggestions and recoated the bolt, he said it wasn’t up to snuff. It’s those little things that I like! A lot of questions asked that reassured me he’s paying attention to detail. Plus we have something in common, daughters who like to hunt, bonus!

Lots of truth in " I’ll be doing more Old Dominion Rifles, such a great guy to work with! " His work and quality of the builds are habit forming.
