I‘m looking for an adjustable stock or AR stock compatible chassis inletted for 700 SA/clones for my son. Doesn’t need to be pretty. Just need to be able to get length of pull to be approximately 11” and have a grip a 7yo can handle. Strongly considering the XLR TR-2 stock and a compatible chassis but thought I would check here first.

Just curious what you found chassis or stock wise for youth? I am about to do the same thing for a 7-9 year old and wanted your opinion.

I ended up buying a used MPA BA hybrid on here and ordering their youth butt stock for it. LOP is a little over 12”. There were some fit and finish issues with it. I think the holes in the forearm for additional weight were tapped on Monday morning or Friday afternoon but overall it has served it’s purpose. Switching buttstocks involves three screws and as many minutes.

I bought a MDT LSSXL Gen 2 that accepts AR buttstocks on Black Friday. LOP is a little longer but the kid prefers it. There are other options for the buttstock that would shorten it up but I wanted to have a bag rider so he could shoot matches with it. I think the AR buttstock is the way to go paired with a chassis from either XLR or MDT. If I want to hunt or check zero I push a button and extend the stock. No screws involved. Feel free to pick my brain if it helps.

For now we are hunting from box blinds. Really nice to start the kid off shooting a heavier rifle from a tripod. He’s had a lot of success in big bean fields at longer range because he is steady and confident. That big heavy chassis really soaks up recoil. This year we left the tripod in the truck and he shot off a bag on the windowsill.

Thats exactly what I wanted to know. Defintely leaning to the MPA youth chassis so I can add a ton of weight to it and have adjustment as my kids grow. Have 3 girls and 1 son so looking for long term investment here and do it right vs skimping.

Good to hear on the MDT LSSXL as well. Currently have Ruger youth 350 legend, but LOP is still too long so need to make up mind and just sell that gun and put money towards a new chassis build, or throw that Ruger in a MDT LSSXL....

We hunt out of box blinds as well and am with you 100% on adding weight, going Dasher route, and then having a rifle that the kids are confident with and arent scared of because it wont fit them.

Thank you very much!!!!
