Your thoughts...

Precisely.

The "trick" of the anti-gun crowd is simple also. It's to "assign" a "life" to an inanimate object and create an "image" of it as if it were alive eg: "guns do bad things". The only thing guns or any other inanimate object can do if left alone is rot. That was recently also done to the confederate flag. "It offends people"....NO...it's the people that choose to take offense individually.
If I "take offense", whose fault is it that I'm hurt or offended?? It's called personal responsibility.

In the days when I worked behind a gun counter, I used to get a customer every now and then that would make a statement "guns kill people". To which I would respond "that is like saying a hammer builds a house, it's a tool like any other". They would always pause before trying to respond, then walk away shaking their head. Many would try to respond, but would just stop mid sentence. I miss the days before being PC entered retail sales.

NICS is federal. The license is federal. Iowa does't override it or bypass it.

No one avoids the NICS call when they buy a weapon from a FFL.

The state of Ky. didn't override the feds on this issue. Rather, the feds agreed to accept a Ky. CCDW license in place of the check done at a ffl. As I said in my OP, Ky. CCDW licensees have background checks done every month...and they use the FBI NICS as part of those checks, as well as state and BATFE resources.

My thinking is that few seem to mind this monthly bg check nor the fees for the necessary class and permit requirements. Of course, the ccdw license isn't a registry of any sort and the check is done with or without a gun purchase....So, I'm wondering if others may see this system as a viable alternative to ffl dealers doing them at the pos.

I expect either way would be equally foolproof:D but I don't suppose either will satisfy the current commandeeror in chief and crew (no undeserved disrespect intended).

LISTEN! In Iowa when you have a CCW you do NO nics! I have bought at least a dozen guns from FFL gun shops in the last few years. THERE IS NO NICS!

I would have to respectfully disagree. I have a carry/conceal
license for Ky. When I buy a firearm from a FFL Dealer all I
have to do is fill out the 4473 form that everyone fills out &
that is the end of it. No phone calls or waiting for a background
check. My carry/conceal information is recorded & the form stays
in the FFL Holders files. And, I take the firearm home with the
right then. No waiting period.
