Your favorite 1000 yard+ caliber?

Right now 7mm RSAUM on Danny Biggs advice and I'm love'n it.

But now I think he's builing a 7 WSM.

I just can't keep up with the man. :'(

ETA - this for 1000 F - Class

For conventional Long Range: .243 w/ 107 SMKs/42 gr. Reloader 17/Lapua brass/Wolf LR primer (3160 fps w/ a 30" bbl.);
For Palma: what else, Sierra 2156s/varget like everyone else. One needs a wind challenge!

Thats a wind challange for sure!!! you might as well throw bricks. Like I was told about 6 years ago, if you want to learn how to read wind and react accordingly shoot a palma rifle.

Back to the topic:
Game rifle: 7mm Rem Mag or any of the new 7mm Mags. They all perform well just pick one.
Predator rifle: 243 or 243 AI A 95gr Berger VLD going 3400fps + is wicked on yotes.
Match rifle: Im still stuck on the 6.5X284. The big 7mm's have some real apeal though.
F class. 7mm again. this time im not strapped into the gun so no recoil issues for me.
Palma: its a tough game, but very rewarding. 308, and 155's.

Well if you look at what is winning at deep creek in Missoula Montana it is 6 dasher all the way, probably 7 or 8 out of ten rifles on the bench are Dashers. Two week ago there was a 3.6" ten shot group shot on the Sat. shoot. Paper is easy to kill, if your wanting to kill flesh depending on the size you better go Magnum, I like the .338 rogue ;) to each his own.

Barry Bluhm shot the 3.6" ten shot group in Montana with a 6-47 Lapua.

I stand corrected, Yes it was Barry with a 6-47 in relay #8 3.624" inch group and a 99 score I was totally amazed as it was real switchy winds and the next closest group in that relay was 8.795" by one of the Hoppe brothers. There is still a lot more 6 Dashers than 6-47's and a couple of the guy's are regularly in the 4-6" groups with them.

Assuming that you are talking targets, not p-dogs, or elk, then

7SAUM, one of the 7mm WSMs (7, 7/300, 7/270), .284 Improved. The 7mm bullets dominate right now.

Indeed the 7mm are making ther way in especially in the F-O Class. In Prone it hasnt quite made it there. I just took a look at the NRA national Championships results and the top three 1000 Yard shooters where shooting 6mm's number four was a 308 palma rifle and number 5 was a Kent Reeve shot a 6.5x284 this year i believe, 6th place is the first 7mm with SSG Green. then the lovley Michelle Gallagher who I cant confirm the calibre type but guessing 6.5X284 that Mid loaded while she was away. 8th a 7mm with SFC Dement 9th Nancy Tompkins 6.5X284 and tenth a 7mm with Steve McGee. and going down to 20th spot only one more.
So yes they are making it up there but four shooters in the top 20 and none in the top 5 isnt much of a domination...... yet. The 6.5X 284 took a few years too. If it wasnt for the AMU shooting the RSAUM it would be really scarce.

Amazing to see the 308 do that well against the HIGH BC war guns. We should have a great palma team this year indeed.
In the end you need to make a good wind call and shoot a straight shot no matter what you shoot.
