XBR 8202 vs Varget .223 16" AR

Anybody use XBR for 3 gun, The rifle can ragged hole @ 100 with 53 SMK and Varget. my dam jaw dropped I wasn't expecting it. Doesn't like the 73 grain Berger as much, 3/4-1". still MOA and well within my needs.

Just wondering how well XBR will translate. I tested it a while back in a bolt gun but we are talking apples to oranges.

Any action shooters with XBR experience please chime in.

ID prefer to reserve the Varget for FCLASS and could definetly use something with better metering, if I can get below MOA on a progressive it would make my life so much easier.

What bullet are you wanting to shoot and what twist is you are? I like XBR and ar-comp. Love Varget but sucks metering for volume loads.

For 3 Gun ammo I use 1200R from Alliant. Priced well and only takes about 22gr to push a 50-55gr bullet so economical and flows well as its a ball powder. Not really temp sensitive either like H335.
I do like XBR 8208 though use it in several rounds.

I use 8208 XBR for bullet weights up to 69 gr. in the .223/5.56. I get excellent accuracy and pretty decent velocity with light-to-medium bullet weights in a couple of bolt guns and all of my AR uppers. My Pro Hunter barrel likes it, too. Temp stable, too, in my experience. Off topic, but my 20" 6.5 Grendel AR barrel is in its glory with 8208 XBR and 107 gr. SMKs or 123 gr. A-Max.

I shot IMR 8208 XTC. One of the most accurate AR-15 .223 powders I've used. Had issues with it being dirty, sometimes couldn't run a complete 300yd rapid fire without an alibi.

69gr and up, Varget
50gr and up, H-4895

I prefer the H-4895 overall, meters just a little better for me. Just slightly slower for the 80gr loads but not enough to worry about.

nfngun,
Both Corey and I use the 8028XBR powder with our 73 grain BERGER bullets for 3-gun. Outstanding powder! Very clean , very accurate.
Take care,

Thanx for post gents, I committed to 8# keg hope to see some better results with the 73 burgers then Varget is giving me, but I do need to lower expectation this isn't an FTR rig.

FYI 1:8 twist for now, I see kreiger is actually takeing orders for mid length Midwest barrels, have my interest pecked.

Bullet choices will be
52-53 SMKs which I know shoot great my go too when long shots arnt needed.
will test some 69 TMK and SMK wanted to go 77 TMK I but read they are to long.
73 Bergers which I have plenty of.
