X-Terminator

Hi folks,

Thinking of giving Ramshot X-terminator a try in my 1:9 twist 5.56

Bullets I shoot (Prefaced with "In normal times" and can be got hold of)

Plinking Load - 55gr FMJBT - Whatever has the bulk offer on
Non-tox load - 55gr Nosler E-tips and / or 58gr Peregrine
Usual Hunting load - 65gr Sierra SBT
Target / varmint load - 60gr Sierra TMK

Any thoughts? Does X-terminator need a magnum primer? Software says no but always wonder with ball powders.

Any other powders worth a go?

I've been using it in 556 for a while now. My typical loading is either 55 FMJs under a mild load for plinking in my semi and full auto guns.

I have also used it with good success behind nosler 69gr custom comps with good accuracy out of bolt guns and a couple semi auto guns that have nicer components.

Its not as good as varget but when I found 8#s a long time back for less than $200 and had to give it a try.

2 questions.

1) Where did you get the Peregrine bullets?
(I've had no luck finding them)

2) How accurate are they?

Hi @std7mag

Had a quick try with the Peregrines, just loaded up 20 or so with a GRT suggested powder charge and tried tuning for length. Think I need a higher charge as didn't get good results and case not that full.

Will let you know more when I have it.

Would greatly appreciate that!
No worries, a bit of shared info is always helpful.

Currently trying to develop non-lead hunting loads for all my rifles.

Seem to have settled on a 139gr GMX for the 7x64, currently working on the .223 Rem, then it will be the 257 Roberts, .44 Rem mag

Scrummy,

I've been looking at the Peregrines mostly for my 25 caliber rifles.
250 Savage
257 Roberts
257 Roberts AI
And a benchrest build in 250 Savage.
Always looking for a higher BC, but stuck with a 1:10 twist.

For your non lead 44 Mag, i'd go with Cutting Edge.
www.cuttingedgebullets.com
The petals are designed to shear off, radiate forward & outwards, while the sharp edged base continues to cut straight through.
Massive internal damage!
And you can load them on the mild side, for more comfortable shooting, and fast follow ups.

@std7mag,

Not sure we can get Cutting Edge over here but I will look into them.

For my 257 Roberts I do have some 100gr Peregrine VLR4s to try. I will probably run them at +P speeds

ATB,

Scrummy
