X-Caliber barrel results

Late last year I found some cheap barrels on ebay.
I needed a new barrel for my 6BRX so I bought one. It was a 1 in 8, 6mm stainless un-tapered barrel for a VERY low price. It was sold by and made by X-Caliber. My guess is that they sold a few barrels on ebay at rock bottom prices just to get some barrels in circulation from their new Barrel Company.
I sent my action and new barrel to a nationally recognized Gun Smith, Fred Marino, and he not only timed and trued my action, installed his Evolution trigger and chambered and shaped my X-Caliber barrel.
I got the gun back very close to a 4 day 600yd and 1000yd NBRSA match so I didn't have time for a proper tuning and didn't do well in the match.
Since then, I did a proper load and tuner setting exercise and got it shooting as good as the old Bartlein.
Had a club match yesterday and unfortunately, all the local marksmen showed up so I didn't place well. But, my groups were right close to the guys with way better wind reading skills than I have.
I consider this barrel as a quality item. I would say my gamble paid off well!

I know a fella that did a group buy on 20 cal barrels from x-caliber and they are tack drivers. I think they are well worth trying.

I got one for a 40x/22br project. I've been load testing and have been having pretty good results. I am thinking about ordering another to chamber in 223 Wylde for my AR...

My 6.5 SAUM X-caliber is doing well, but still testing. Need to stretch it out to really see its real potential. Barrel cleans up easy.

Shot at 100 yards.

Zeroed at 100 yards including CBS. 5 shots with 7 ES.

I just ordered 2 33" 1.250" 7mm blanks one 9 twist and one 5r 8 twist for a 7rsaum. hopefully I get a couple good ones.

Mine cleans up pretty fast too...very little copper. The steel machined and chambered very nice too.

Bought a couple as well (.224 5R 7 twist and a .243 8 twist) in straight 1.25 diameters. The 22 cal barrel was put on a Savage target action (no more barrel nut) and has shown good groups with Berger 80.5 fullbore bullets and 8208. They do seem to clean up quick, but there is less than 50 rounds down the .223 barrel at this point. My gunsmith wasn't impressed with the runout, but sometimes that isn't the bottom line. I'm not putting the .243 barrel on anything until I see how the smaller bore barrel does at 600 yards as an ftr rifle.

Trailrider,

Nice shooting. What load are you running? Putting one together for myself
and looking for a place to start with loads.

Thanks, Paul
