I fix stuff, sometimes....
Got a new 22lr barrel blank from X-caliber a few weeks ago. This is for my 10/22 build for this year's squirrel season. It's a 20" long straight taper, .920" to .600". I took a standard 10/22 receiver and "trued" the face and bore, then threaded the receiver for .75-16tpi. I indicated the barrel in to under. 0003" over a 1.5" plane at the chamber. After threading I used a .5" ball nosed carbide endmill to relieve the extractor cut. I flipped the barrel around and crowned it. After the metal work was done I bedded the first 2" of barrel, lug, and the receiver. I will have a range report as soon as it's out of the bedding.
