WTB Ruger red label 28ga

About forty years ago, Butch Searcy (Boron, CA DR builder) started out building double rifles using the Rugers. He then moved to a more classic design, the SxS; using Browning BSS's. Then a few years later to his own (current) designs. He did one for a gentleman in Boise, in 45-70; that the man could never regulate (with his own loads). I bought it pretty cheap a year later. My local guy rechambered it for the 45-90 (2.4" case) and it would stay under 2" at 100 yards with a bit of fiddling at 1800fps. Elk killer!

Good Luck with your search,

ISS

Had one new. Couldn't hit a barn with it. Sold it to a kid in CNY. Great to carry and look at but my goodness I could't shoot it. And I might mention it was a fit issue. I was at the time shooting a M42 Winchester for grouse and woodcock very successfully.

Good luck, I hope you find one and find it to be all you want.

If shotguns don't fit you just can't hit!!!!!!

A good friend gave me his father's Parker in 16 gauge, manufactured in 1924. Wonderful gun to carry, but awful for me to connect with. 20 hits in 100 rounds of trap, ... dismal! Back to the Beretta Silverhawk.

Of course they are collector items. That's because I sold mine. For less than I bought it. Barely used.

It's the snert way....

How much are they bringing these days? I have one I bought new shortly after they came out 25 years ago or so....

Asking price and getting price seem to be very skewed in these
unless it’s mint in box or the fancy engraved models they don’t seem to bring the 2k+
used examples sell pretty routinely for 1300-1800
depends on the configuration of course
