WSSM Precision Rifle

Has anybody tried or had any luck in building the WSSM into a precision rifle.I was thinking about trying one in a 6.5,7mm or even 30 cal.It looks to me like it would be a BR on steroids.Thanks.

That's exactly what Winchester wanted folks to think when they introduced the cartridge line. Unfortunately, they didn't give much thought to brass quality. Also, overbore is overbore, no matter how pretty the package. A 30WSSM has very close to the same capacity as a 308 Winchester, but the 308 IS a proven cartridge with high quality brass available. The same can be said for the other cartridges based on the 308 case...6mm, 6.5mm and 7mm. They all perform better than their WSSM counterparts...and in a short action as well. JMHO

Tightneck gives some valuable advice there.. and also think of it this way.. if you choose too.. make a switch barrel.. you have way more options with the .308 bolt face than with that magnum bolt face.
