WOULD YOU RATHER

Seating depth test......6 Dasher. 1x fired brass. I did a quick charge test and found a prelim load of Varget. Going to test +.025, +.015, +.005 in , and -.005 and -.015 out. 5 shots of each (to start)

Would you rather.....

1) Warm up gun and shoot five 5 shot groups ( groups spaced out, time wise) at 1000 Yards. On the plus side you could measure group size and shape and minimize wind effects. BUT......the fouling effect from first group to last could factor in.

OR

2 Paint bullet tips and warm up gun and shoot all in a row round robin (spaced out timewise) at 1000 Yards. Plus side....negate the fouling effect first to last group....BUT group size is out the window over a 30ish min string. Looking strictly at the amount of vertical within each group.

I have my own range and have the ability to shoot at night to help negate wind if needed Just need to find a mirage friendly night.

What say you?

today I loaded 5 fire forming rounds and six each rounds plus 2 tenths of powder
Shot the 5 fore forms as Foulers then shot 3 each loads of the plus 2 on 3 different targets then went back and fired the 3 remaining of the different loads on a different aiming point on the 3 targets to see which load group repeated. This was slow fire not letting barrel heat up all at a 100 yards. Next range trip I will replete what was the best two loads then Make the call which load gets shot at our 1000 yard match next month. Not sure if this answer your question buts what I do

Train like ya fight
Well i wouldn't shoot round Robin because you wouldn't shoot that way in a match with various loads or seating depths. Shoot individual loads as individuals staying within a given condition.
Save components and try 2 shot groups to determine seating nodes first followed with colored bullets for powder with with 3 shot groups at distance.
Once seating and powder are confirmed, then by all means move to 5 or even 10 shot groups for confirmation and practice.
