Would these be legal in F class shooting

Friend and I are building these for F class shooters, was showing to director of WORLDS F CLASS in 2017 in Ottawa Canada he said it might be illegal as per the no electronic devises allowed on mound IE: wind gauges ETC. ??
before we get wood all prepped for production,as the .308 class of cartridges & the WSM/284 as well the 223 Rem have different sized blocks don,t want t waste 25 year old dry
Black cherry,Walnut,Red Oak & Butternut.
Where could I get verification, anyone using timmers ?
I know for this years Ottawa Eastern & Nationals the 45 second rule will be enforced

The timer is an electronic device, though it gives you no advantage. Perhaps clarification would be the first order of business.

I used an electronic timer in the 2013 Worlds as did many other competitors. There should be no problem. Just don't try to use your cell phone as a timer. ;)

Along the same line, a battery operated watch is an electronic device. I'd be surprised if it would be considered illegal to wear a watch, or to use an electronic timer. However, checking with an official is your best bet to get a definitive answer (preferably in writing ;)).

They would have to throw half of the shooters out of the match if timers were illegal. I used one of your cartridge holders/timers at the last Nationals and BSN matches. No one complained.

The timer is legal. How else would you know if your shooting partner was releasing his shot in under 45 seconds?
Personal wind indicating or measuring devices are forbidden on the firing point, or visible from the firing point. Wind correction tables or "as slide rules" are permitted. This is in the ICFRA shooting rules.

If anyone complained about a timer, then all of the shooters with one should get a free shot to kick him in the balls!! Shooters that want to piss n moan about others equipment, are only trying to come up with excuses. I've seen shooters experiment with lots of equipment, but if they're not consistently winning matches then it really isn't an advantage. Legally you can shoot with a 338 Lapua, but it isn't an advantage. As long as it doesn't have wind reading or communications, I will never see a problem. Being from Wi, I don't deal well with heat. I always wear shorts while shooting, even at the Berger match. I can feel wind changes on my legs while shooting. It helps me while shooting. Does these mean that wearing shorts while shooting will become illegal?

I have been making these for a couple of years, and a lot of guys have been using them without any problems. Made to hold 22, 24, 25 and 30 rounds. Various models for 22RF, .223, 6mm, 308, 284, and specials for 300WSM.

Here in the USA under our NRA'S rules it's electronic communication devices that are prohibited forward of the ready line.

With the recent advent of electronic target / scoring systems, some ranges will be supplying competitors with electronic devices for both shooters to view their targets as well as scorers (verifiers) to keep score. These have communication functions built in so it remains to be seen just how they'll be disabled without also causing them to become inoperative for the purpose - scoring - intended.

As it is, timers (to my knowledge) have never caused a kerfuffle unless their alarm function hasn't been disabled ahead of time.

THAT will get you noticed, rest assured.

It is only illegal if the clear finish interferes with the shooter next to you when he is trying to focus on the target,
If his or her lack of concentration is based on envy that is allowed and in fact somewhat encouraged if you read between the lines called rules

Nice stuff

Geez, you answer an informal question on the clubhouse patio, and now all the sudden it's on AccurateShooter! Thanks Paul!

To be clear, I posed the question of whether this qualified as an electronic device or not. Fortunately as the match director I can defer to people on that, but MY opinion is that there should be no issue. To the OP's second point, we WILL be enforcing shot time limits at our Nationals and at the 2017 FCWC. If this helps people get their shots off in their allocated time then so much the better. And to Rick's point, better to make them with room for 4 extra rounds, so a total of 26 (for the 2+20 strings).

Straight from the rule book........I did a search for "electronic" and other than electronic targets, this was it.

3.22 Electronic Devices—Competitors are responsible to ensure that all

electronic communications and audio devices in their possession forward of

the ready line are silenced and communication disabled.

I don't believe a timer allows you to communicate or gain an advantage.

After having an opportunity to check, ICFRA rules (F6.8) explicitly state nothing electronic on the firing point EXCEPT timers and muffs. So to your question Paul, yes, your blocks are fine. So-called "smart watches" certainly are something to consider.
