BrownellsWere are you guys finding the factory Rem firing pin springs these days?
At 1000 yards it was up to 10 inches out the group. It varied from one in to another. I have found it was almost always vertical and it won't go away till you replace the spring. MattDo you remember how much vertical you were getting?
I believe with a light spring, it is caused by the pin bouncing and touching the primer when it's tight against the bolt face under recoil. MattLight springs, I get the erratic ignition.
I am curious on the how or why it would pierce primers?
Just out of curiosity, what model BAT and what is your current pin fall on it?It seems okay to me. I perceived the lock time to be slower on the BAT than the Remington with PTG bolt and Gre Tan parts I sent you. It could be my imagination however. I don't know anything about how to tell it one has faster lock time than the other.
The BAT seems to have a very powerful ignition system. I can really feel it through the stock when dry firing.

Unless I missed it Brownells hasn't any firing pin springs for a Remington except pin and spring and it says lite one no poundage of the springBrownells
Oh, sorry, I've gotten them there in the past, call 'em, they may still have something.Unless I missed it Brownells hasn't any firing pin springs for a Remington except pin and spring and it says lite one no poundage of the spring
Yeah I've got them there in the past to, with Remington out of the picture I didn't know for sure who made the factory # springs.Oh, sorry, I've gotten them there in the past, call 'em, they may still have something.
I got .206 fired, .026 cocked. .232 total. The way I do it... I measure what little bit sticks out of shroud when clocked. Dry fire it and measure from the shroud to pin. Add both together and come up with the pin fall. Bat say .210 to .230 I think.
A BAT (not Nuevo) action is 0.200 + where the pin is sitting outside shroud when cocked and bolt/action closedI got .206 fired, .026 cocked. .232 total.
I bought this particular action from short action customs. They spec their actions without the adjustable trigger hanger. It's set up like a Remington.A BAT (not Nuevo) action is 0.200 + where the pin is sitting outside shroud when cocked and bolt/action closed
This additional outside will depend on trigger type and does it have an adjustable trigger hanger to reposition trigger back.
Typically 0.230 max with +0.030 hanger and 0.210 with ‘0’ hanger
Some triggers may get you 0.005 to 0.007 more
