Worth of Winchester 308 bolt gun, possibly pre 60's

My 73 year old female non shooting cousin wants to know what her fathers gun is worth. I don't know my way around these old dear rifles, your help would be appreciated. I have more pics of the stock (it looks kind of beat up). I'm just looking for a ball park figure to tell her. Also what model is it ? Mod 70 ? thumbnail.jpg

The rifle is a pre 64 Winchester model 70 Featherweight. If the rest of the rifle is in as good condition as the photos the rifle is easily worth $1200, maybe more. Winchester collectors are easy to find and will be very interested in that one. Run a serial number search on the internet to see when it was built. Do not refinish or do any work to detract from the original factory configuration.
