Work on Rem 700 triggers

I have several of the older style 700 triggers that I've taken out of guns over the years that I am wanting to get tuned. Was wanting to see if any of you guys knew where I could send them to get them worked on. Thanks

There may be legal problems if a gunsmith tunes up a trigger and someone gets hurt? Why did you take the old triggers out. What did you replace them with? Just scrapped an X-Pro and bought a Jewell for $249.

It's not the x pro triggers they're the old style Remington 700 triggers with the two adjustment screws in the front. Just didn't want to throw them away. Have jewels and thimney and most of my guns.

I purchased one here on this forum and when I received it, it was at 2.3 lbs, perfect for my hunting rig. After getting the gun back from getting cerakoted, it for some reason was at 6+ lbs. I wasn't happy so not sure what happened. I tried to tune it back but could only get it down to 4+ lbs. Not sure what was done to get it down to 2 3 lbs but it's impossible to get it there now.

Be sure and keep these as they are very good triggers. Someone will come along that can rework them for you.:);)

Neil Jones or Bob Brackney.

The old Remington trigger has THREE adjustment screws. Two on the front one for let off and the other for trigger movement after the trigger brakes. The third is on the back of the trigger and that is for sear engagement. Minimum sear engagement is 10 thousands inch. You can see through the hole in the side of the trigger where things mate up. You can cut you a small enough piece of 10 thousands feeler gauge to fit in the hole to help you measure what the engagement is. Most of these triggers can be adjusted down to 2.5 lbs with no problem but lighter than that starts to get a little hit or miss and or dangerous. I have all mine set at 2.5 lbs because I can place my finger on the trigger and feel it and then a gentle squeeze will set them off. I can't place my finger on a 2 lb. trigger and feel it before it will go off. Don't worry about somebody sewing you if adjusted a trigger and your gun goes off and shoots somebody. You will be in enough trouble because you were negligent and shot somebody. Remember a safety is a mechanical device that MAY FAIL so keep that muzzle pointed in a safe direction at all times.

Just a thought?
Sell them and buy a Good after market Trigger . Depending on your shooting needs Timney to Jewel ang $$$ are out there?
Good Luck

I do have Shilens in most of my hunting 700s. I just have a couple older Remington triggers I'd like worked down a bit. I really like how the older ones feel once there tuned down to 2-2.5 lbs.

Did they cerakote the trigger? If so theres your answer but if not the cerakote thats in the trigger recess is squeezing the side plates of the trigger against the sear

In the future if you feel brave enough, there are some good resources on how to improve the Walker style Remington trigger. When I get an unknown trigger, I fully disassemble it, clean everything, inspect and stone and polish the sear/connector surface. Reassemble and put a Wolff reduced trigger spring in it, moly the sear surface and set the sear engagement, overtravel and trigger weight I like. They make remarkable triggers.

Tools required, 1/8" punch and hard Arkansas stone and Flitz.
