Won at Shot Show

Another member posted about his daughter winning a car and it reminded me of the only time I won anything.

It was the late 90s and I was at the Shot Show walking around and passed Yamaha ATV display. The representative asked if I wanted to enter a drawing for a 4 wheel drive ATV. I said no thanks and he grabbed my hand and put the entry form in my hand. I thought what a pushy bastard! So filled out the form and walked away.

A couple of days later a freind called me and said I won the ATV. Knowing his fondness for pranks I ignored him but I never told him I filled out an entry form? I went back to the Show and there was my name on the ATV! Long story short, they shipped it home, it was nice but I sold it to a guy that had a small farm.

The next year I filled out every entry form I came across at the show! My cosmic limit of good luck had run out and I didn't win squat!

The year after that I met USMC GySgt Carlos Hathcock at the Shot Show, that was a big honor for me.

Anyhoo congrats to the car winner and enjoy! Thanks for looking.

Two years ago I was on con call for work and the gun club President called me. Called him back after con call and he told me I won the gun raffle. My choice was 10/22 or a Colt Commander. I said boy that’s a hard decision! :D My son had been saying Dad you need to buy a 45 so when I came home from gun store with the Commander I showed it to him and he said about time you bought one. I laughed and told him I won it. Bought club raffle tickets ever year since and haven’t won anything.

My tale of woe:
My 17 year old doesn't tell me that she entered me in a Autozone sweepstakes for a 2019 Camaro cause she is ineligible at 17 years old. One day she gets a call for me on her phone from Autozone. She forgot she entered. She says "wrong number" and the nice girl on the line says "sorry, that happens on these contests", and hangs up. Then kiddo remembers, checks the ad. Yep, that day was the drawing....

I still drive a 2004 VW and the kid drives NUTHIN!

I won one of these at a raffle. Haven’t won much before or since.

My story
Many years ago we had an Employees Club golf tournament. there was prizes for the first few winners and tickets were issued for a drawing. Prizes ranged from golf club sets to used golf balls. There was 50 prizes to be had and 52 entries.
The only prize I got home with was my empty whiskey bottle.

I don’t sign up for those drawings in the shopping centers, grocery stores, gun show, and department stores for fear of giving out too much information and getting too many e-mails. I already get too many from ALL my friends.

On another tack, my father bought one ticket from the Windsor, Ontario Lion’s Club for a cottage on Lake Erie in Wheatley, Ontario in 1939. He Won. We had that cottage until after his death in 1989. We had converted it to a year around home around 1967. After the death of both parents we sold the home.

About 10 years ago I went to a banquet with a friend and his brother, dad. I had told them people who sit next to me always win a gun at conservation banquets. Well they walked around looking at the prizes, while I looked for a table, most had been fulled, but I found a table(9) that had 2 open chairs and the table behind my seat had 2 open chairs brother, dad of friend sat there. The gentleman next to me and my friend on my right had never won a gun, I never had either. After our table had introduced each other, my friend tells all that his buddy swears that people who sit next him win guns. 11 guns were won that night at our table of 9, even I ended my string of no guns when I won the last firearm in the door prize list. A TC Icon which I'm 2/2 on Wyoming public land nonresident elk. My friend and his brother won rifles, I guess 3/4 is good and the guy on my left won one also, since then I haven't won any, but others with me continue to win.

I won 3 pounds of shooters world powder on facebook two christmases ago, through powder valley. Still haven't used it yet, lol.

A couple of years ago at SHOT I was wandering around when a cute young thing asked me to fill out a raffle card. I did. A few hours later I was nearby so went to watch the drawing. Almost passed out when they called my name. Won a TC bolt action rifle.

Last year at SHOT, we went by Gerber knives. Giving out knives to the first 100 waiting in line at 3:00. Also got a ticket/steel ball with a number on it to win 3 of their new knives. I looked at my friend and said I'm gonna win it. First number drawn!! It must have been the beer!!

LOL That must be a lie bc I have NOT seen any hot or even cute girl at SHOT in a long time. :) USO had a honey working for them but I don't see models like I did 10 years ago.
Remember when they use to give away shirts, scopes, cases, bipods, barrels....etc... The industry has grown but the generosity has shrunk, BIG TIME. Kestrel still does their thing. Shit, I couldn't even get someone to give me a extra bag of .223 patches that had approx. 100 ct.
I don't expect something for nothing but if you spend 10s of thousands of dollars a year from a distributer it's nice to be appreciated. JMO

I won a Browning Citori in a club raffle once. Knowing they'd need a similar gun for a PF raffle, I opted for the cash equivalent. Sadly the PF prez tried to buy it with a lowball offer, but I knew it was worth or cost a lot more.
